Aren't we out of money? We might have a trade coming to clear cap space.

I think we went with Jones due to cap considerations. His $2mil is a modest cap hit. Still need to get Hart/Sanheim deals done. I liked Holtby more (stats excluded) but he chose Dallas.

It’ll be very interesting to hear what chucks thought process was. I bet he tried to get holtby but he didn’t want to come here. Obviously he won’t say that
- Hextall271

I know what happened:

Fletcher wanted someone else, focused everything on them then found out they signed somewhere else and Martin was the last one at the table with a stupid grin on his.

The gnashing of teeth and rending of garments over a backup goalie signing is hilarious.

I see what you're saying, but this is all based off the presumption Hart bounces back. I think he will, but you never know.

We aren't capped out, unless we overpay Hart and/or Sanheim.

With Hart’s Vezina type season I wouldn’t even have signed a backup. Let him play all 82

Hart better have some good sports psychologist sessions this year. They really put the pressure in him to perform and bounce back. He falters they are toast.

The thing that scares me about Hart is that he still hasn't really proven himself on the road. Great home goalie, but he seems to still have issues away.

Chuckles the pantload strikes again. Amazing this guy could (frank) up a one car funeral.

Great name for Fletcher. You can have it on this board. Do I have your permission to use it outside of hockeybuzz? Lol

Hart definitely struggled but Are we gonna act like he didn’t have a steaming hot pile of poop in front of him every start?

That would help I’d say ahah.

This isn’t anything to get to worried about. Hope Jones rebounds for sure.

I can’t expect they’ll be able t sign anyone more of consequence. Maybe a depth forward.

So extra underwhelming, heh…on the bright side, everyone knows it’s Hart’s net.

So maybe this is Lyon’s year to get a NHL backup try…Is it scary that I like him (even unproven) better than Jones? Hummm

Really good landing spot for Elliott in TB!

It just says a lot about what you think about Jones, not much eh?

Wow, whining about the signing of a backup goaltender. If Hart doesn't return to form there isn't a backup out there that would make a difference.

I'm really not worried about Hart, but he can't play all games and between struggles (he will have some no matter what) and a possible injury then those are games the Flyers can lose valuable points.

Yeah. He improved at the end of 2020 but the road wins in the playoffs don’t really count because they were in the bubble. He certainly didn’t do well anywhere last season. Something to watch.
