Is Edmonton trying to make the defense worse on purpose?

Too much to ask to not have a totally out of left field and horribly embarrassing decision every offseason I guess.

Flyers are getting blasted again.

Who is blasting them? Eagles fans or the experts on tsn sports net?

Martin Jones!? Are you f’ing kidding me? You needed a guy that could play should Hart struggle. This guy can’t play at all. He’s worse then Elliott.
- Flyers1218

Yeah, terrible signing. I'm not sure what other goalies were interested in playing here but Jones would have been one of my last options. He's here now so I'll root for him to do well.

Not understanding the Jones reactions. It’s a back up role and I believe he had similar #s than Moose(last year) on a horrendous Sharks team.

Meh. Jones can’t be any worse than Elliott was last year. And honestly, if Hart struggles again this year we have a bigger problem to worry about than the backup.

Caps tried hard to get Jones, too. Are they a dumb team too?

Yes similar piss poor numbers.

After last year and the moves made they needed a top end "backup" imo.

If he’s here to play 20 games maybe it’ll work.
- Hextall271

Pretty sure I heard Chuck say maybe 35 and that they weren't expecting Hart having to play 50 games.

He was good for them a few years back. Fresh start opportunity. Probably better than Moose and only 31. Numbers were meh on a less than meh team the last year or so. Hart sucked last year based on his numbers, but nobody wants to throw him away. This team looks completely different on the back end going into the year. Question remains: how much do Sanheim and Hart get paid with only $9MM remaining?

Ok. So Jones gets 35. I hope he can get it done. The d should be better so that may help

Fletcher is so bad. Why expect anything different when he sucked for a decade in Minnesota

Are you a paid "influencer" by the Flyers? Lol. Jones stinks and everyone knows it. They bought him out to bring in Reimer for crying out loud. I'm not a fan of Reimer at all but I would have taken him over Jones.

Our defense was so bad last year, so was the Shark’s D. One would think our goaltenders’ lives will be easier this year with how much we bolstered the D core. At least I hope

Looking at the cap, they have roughly 8.8m to re-sign Hart and Sanheim.

Sanheim - 4.1m x 3 or 5 (I don't really see why they would pay him more than Carlo)
Hart 3.25 - 3.5m x 3 or 5 (Hopefully more than 2 years term)

Maybe they get lucky and sign them for 7.6m.....

No, I’m just not mr sky is falling for a back up goalie. Jones has shown he’s capable of being a starting goalie in the past. He’s reunited with his old goalie coach too. Mrazek was dog poop for us and Carolina, then he was a stud for Carolina. Goalies can bounce back with a change of scenery. Less pressure for him to do it as a back up goalie too.

Fletcher whiffing big time here. It’s especially perplexing since he is on the record saying the backup will play pretty often.
