We all win in the Metro by Carolina signing Andersen and Philly signing Jones. |

Agreed - 10inchTerror
I mean at this point the way its going.....why would letting or malkin want to resign here?
Its not looking good for a run, its their last pro contract. They could either A. Make bank somewhere else or B. Take a cut at a run it thats what they desire.
They won't make bank in Pitt, not looking good for a run. |

Signing him to an extension is the right move. He's not walking, has already said he wants to retire a Penguin numerous times. - j.boyd919
It's the right move because why? Being sentimental is the best way to run a hockey team? |

Because he's a true no. 1 Defenseman and those don't grow on trees. Pens don't have the assets to trade for one, and if they wanted to replace him in FA, they're likely going to overpay and probably not going to get one as good as Letang.
Nothing to do with sentimental. |

OK, got it! You're under the illusion that this is still a Stanley Cup contending team. |

Same reason saad would want to sign in Pitt. Long summers to golf and chill, they are all multi cup champions. No long gruelling playoffs. Put in your paid 82 and play some ps5 😂 |

From the last page of comments:
Pens won the division last year amongst a bunch of injuries, I can't imagine them limping into the playoffs with teams like CAR, NYR and PHI actively getting worse. Pens still have cap room to spare.
Now will they compete for a cup? Probably not but Feds and I have been saying they won't be for about 2 years now, this is just Red Wings Demise v2 starring the Pittsburgh Penguins.
^^Yeah.. that's exactly the illusion I'm under. |

Me as we rehash all the circular arguments from the past two seasons:
|
|
|
|
ERod looks like a cheap Tanev replacement. Simon is a body for when injuries happen. After ZAR signs, team is at around 4mil of cap space. I think Hextall is aiming for a guy like Saad or Tatar. Pettersson could be good trade bait for those teams that miss out on upgrading their D. |

Anaheim need a d-man? Pettersson and a pick for Rackell. Sign Ritchie for 2 million. That'll help. |

With all these reunions I fully expect Flower to be back in the black and gold. Hextall is getting the band back together for one more tour. |

extra 200k over Erod....prefer Freddy...fcvk
|
|
|

Pretty much all the goalies are gone, no?
That means Ullmark, Fleury, or a trade with Dallas for one of their 8 goalies? Or Hextall is truly going to ride out Jarry because no one will take his contract. |

People need to remember Freddy is like 28 and had one good 30 game stretch in the NHL. There probably isn’t a huge gap between Gaudreau and Rodrigues. |
