That very well may be true. Lou isn't exactly a chatty Cathy when it comes to moves or signings.

He also likes to use all the time he has which is annoying but usually works out well for him.

I thought it was 5X 7 .. said the money was ok but wanted more term. He got it.
- niteislander

I just heard several people on SXM NHL channel say Sakic initially offered 4 years @ $6.5m and Landy wanted more term. He was okay with the money but wanted more as well.

With lameriello we can all expect the unexpected. The guy is a clam he doesn’t say anything to anyone. With that said he would have to move existing roster players or not sign some of our RFA’s to do anything crazy and I don’t see that happening. Numbers don’t work.

I really thought Greene was great. Just always in the right spot and making the right decisions. He had a few plays that were off but in general I thought he played very good.
- niteislander

I thought Greene really struggled during that Tampa series and other spots during the playoffs. I'd love for Bolduc to be ready to start the season but I cannot see that happening.

That's a big reason i think we're going back with the same team except Lee coming back. Obviously we all know Lou is Lou and for all we know Landy signing with Colorado could be part of a sign and trade deal.

Bolduc would hopefully get some looks just to cut back on Greene’s ice time a bit. Greene is still a great player but he’s long in the tooth. He was exposed in the PO’s more often then not imo.
- Cptmjl

I agree. I can see Bolduc getting time later in the year.

In all honesty, I don't think Greene is that good. He's serviceable but he seemed to always turn the puck over in the D zone leading to solid scoring chances. He also doesn't have the foot speed to keep up. I think he relies on experience now to anticipate and uses angles to his advantage. I'd agree that he'd be best used as a 7th D. Just my 3 cents.

I doubt very much Bolduc is part of the starting line up. With that said I would like to see a way to shrink Greene’s ice time which I think will make him a more effective player overall for us. That doesn’t necessarily mean Bolduc has to have an impactful year with the big club. Getting looks is one thing being part of the starting lineup is something else entirely.

So no one is giving Wortherspoon or Vande Somple a shot?

If we sign any even mid priced forward it’s due to us not signing cizikas or Beau unless he finds some other way of shedding salary. It’s possible but anything we’ve heard is that Lameriello’s priority is keeping as much of the team together as he can. With this said I fully expect to see Parise an Islander…

I've not heard they can challenge for a spot IHM. Seem to be more disappointing Bridge players.

He could be ready, but I don't see them putting him in the NHL yet regardless. just not their M.O.

I thought Greene has played well with the Isles but he got exposed against Tampa with his lack of speed. Greene will be another year older and will not get any better. 7th dman really is his best spot.

signing Palmieri and all our guys is an Upgrade. We have never seen this team with Lee back and Palmieri in the line up.

Young defensemen do seem to get more trust with Lou and Barry than young forwards. At least Dobson did. I have to think Bolduc could be real close to being ready?

It should be a better team on offense for sure. We have to see how Leddy is replaced. The question will be is it enough to get past Tampa or anyone else to get to the Cup?

I don't disaggree.. but I kinda feel like a LOT of really good young d-men on other teams got exposed by the Bolts and their extra $18 mill of cap room. He is certainly no longer a top 4 d-man and heading towards a 7th pairing guy, but I like him until they are comfortable with Buldoc or someone else in B-port.

No question going against Tampa is no easy task. I'm fine with Greene starting the season as long as Bolduc or someone can step in if needed.

Greene and Leddy were our weak link on the back end the entire playoffs. Like I said he was great for most of the season but it was pretty obvious he was worn down by the time the post season started. Not a knock on the guy he has been great for us he’s just a bit old.

No knock at all Cpt just facts. Greene is not young and the extra playoff games the Isles have played the last few years takes a toll.

Islanders are interested in Goligoski and Parise. The main objectives are to sign Palmieri and Cizikas

I’m surprised no one has brought up Zadrodov’s name. Big dude, shoots left and is young.
