If Yandle is still on that ironman streak, no way he's coming here to be the 6/7yh option. I'm sure he got assurances that he is in the line up every night. Yandle/Braun-Morin as 3rd pair? Not bad.
- cdearth23

I’m sure this was discussed at signing, there’s a real chance that could happen and I think he knows that.

I'm guessing Yandle is going to play every game for Philly. Why? They signed him cheap, so there's likely an agreement to let him get his iron-man-streak record in 42 more games. I don't see him signing a contract without some assurance of getting the record.
- JimboCoppertone

Does he play the right side at times recently?

BTW, how did this even come out? Thought teams aren't allowed to talk to players until UFA day? Did Yandle's buds at Spittin' Chiclets break this?

I think players who are bought out can sign at any time

Interesting, very interesting. Anyone could tell you last year no one looked happy with all the losing, but they seemed friendly year 1. There was that video of Giroux and Hayes having a face off contest this year lol I wonder if Giroux was making his stand there
- arichardson22

Think this is nonsense. Pretty sure Hayes has praised G many a times on chiclets

Dont you always say Phil Myers hasn't played enough games or something to that effect when posters say he isn't that good? Give him more time.

Patience and development was preached. For a young player rushing to the nhl is more detrimental than being seasoned. While I would love to see York flourish.

If we sign a player that is better, one of the dumbest comments I saw today was play the kids over the better vet. Ice the best team you can. Or are we just tanking….lol

All you were told lol from who. Give me something
- ClaudeFather

I mean of course I can’t say who but they work very closely with the players. Wasn’t just G vs Hayes it was like the locker room is split into two entire factions lol of course the room is much different now so who knows if that’s still the case but it certainly was the case last season which in my eyes explains a lot of the on ice issues for the team as a whole.

I hate the drama honestly but I only bring this up because I was really shocked this was even an issue, did not see it coming. Different leadership styles? Work out routines? Influence on young guys? Couldn’t tell you beyond what I know. Hopefully it’s all overblown but it didn’t seem that way last year

Like the Yandle move.. someone else is really paying his salary...900k is a drop in the bucket for someone with experience and skill...better than a Hal Gill type..

Tomorrow the bigger 1B goalie deal gets done and a depth forward to help out the YUTS!

Hey MBFlyerfan gonna drop you a PM about music..

Reading he had larger offers but wanted to go to Philly. Normally that’s said about ever maple leafs acquisition

Wonder how caps fans feel about OV being 35 and signing a 5 year mega contract. Don't they know he is 5 years past the point where they should have traded him for a bunch of picks?

Not sure what to make of it or what his connection is. But I agree and Hayes has def spoken highly of G on chiclets. Pretty sure G spoke highly of Hayes as well when he was on.

There are situations when I agree with that philosophy. Based on the moves and the fact the season hasn't started this isn't one of them.

He took less money to come to a city where nobody wants to play at all? Surely he lost a bet on the golf course against Hayes!

This person wouldn’t tell me this just to stir the pot or make something out of nothing. That’s why it was surprising to hear, there is no evidence of this other than what they are hearing at the rink every day. maybe this year is different, I’m not saying it’s still this way now but it was something that was talked about last year and hopefully it’s all water under the fridge now

So are your saying it’s more of hang out cliques or this is my captain lol. Hayes seems to be nothing of the leadership type and just a guy keeping it light

Maybe Giroux was pissed off at Hayes playing through that injury that made him slow as hell and useless.

That’s a great question and I agree with you it might just be hang out cliques as I don’t see Hayes as the type to push to be a leader whatsoever. I wonder if G is feeling the pressure of new guys signing with his own deal winding down. But I couldn’t tell you one way or the other - buddy cliques is my guess and makes the most sense - why that would create such a polarizing and tense atmosphere as to make a point of it to me is beyond me

Flyers still have a bit of salary cap to use and resources to maximize to go for it this year. Dave Scott just scheduled a forecasting call with Chuck to make sure everything is maxed out ready to go for the cup this season.

Bill, do you have a breakdown of the draft picks Philadelphia still has for 2022 and 2023? Would be nice to know the ammo CF has yet to fire for this balls to the wall push. I expect some to be spent at the trade deadline in season as well.

Here is why I don’t like the “better” argument, but I think “ready” is more fitting. If the Flyers believe York is ready, as it stands now, he can be inserted on the 3rd pairing with a veteran partner playing behind LD Provorov and Sanheim. He can be sheltered. In sheltered minutes, better is not really as impactful and very subjective because you are giving whoever is in the lineup the role to be “better.”

What if (hopefully not!) Sanheim or Provorov are ill/injured? Do you put York in the top 4? Not if he isn’t ready for those matchups or minutes. You can elevate Yandle though.
