If he's clearly ready, you can bump Yandle to #7 (or bury him).
And at least it's Yandle and not some stiff like Jack Johnson or Nate Prosser. - Tomahawk
In my opinion they aren't signing Yandle not to play him. He still moves the puck well and can still man the PP. The coach is going to play the veteran. My objection is not towards Yandle as a player.

Pretty solid vet….he obviously won’t be counted on to play a major role. When the kids are ready, so be it. This contract and it’s value won’t block anyone….I do wonder if the Flyers are up to more? - landros 2
He is a solid vet. He was still contributing a bit for Florida last year. Can’t have enough competent dmen. Kinda surprised he came on such a low amount. Was he bought out? |

Is Morin an every night player? Glad we have him but, how high are we on Keith Yandle, Justin Braun and Sam Morin right now as everyone night players? |

In your view how many NHL games does a player need to play in order to be able to form an opinion on if he is ready? - MJL
Depends on the player, i thought Meyers was ready after his ok rookie season, then he $#@ the bed. But id think a half season should be able to make a judgement with more accuracy than after 3 games.

BTW, how did this even come out? Thought teams aren't allowed to talk to players until UFA day? Did Yandle's buds at Spittin' Chiclets break this?
- Tomahawk
It looks like he did but only after others dropped the info.

Can you balance the pros and cons of forcing York into the NHL now vs giving him all-situations experience in the AHL in addition to a call up? How do you think that list would tilt? |

If anything, at least this prevents Boston from getting him lol |

Dont you always say Phil Myers hasn't played enough games or something to that effect when posters say he isn't that good? Give him more time.

Seems like Risto put a cap on Morin as an AHL-er. Risto has the same nasty streak but can actually compete at the NHL level. |

What if Yandle is better right now? Still play York? - bradster
Yes, for sure, IF York is ready. Yandle is a better #7 than Sbisa. He is also not blocking the kids if they are ready and healthy. Not blocking Sam since Yandle is not a penalty killer. He is a good fit on the team, going to be 35 and a quality NHL veteran. Good move. |

Like Ovi a lot and understand why the Caps did it, but 5 yrs @ 9.5 per yr, that is brutal. - Trox88
That’s what the elite of the elite get.
Now re up coots 7-8 years 8+ per
Surely coots in Ov class |

Might as well give Hayes the "C" as all of his buddies are coming to town |

Would be better suited to have him and Rasmus in practice at same time so Morin can learn the tricks from another big man...it may help him refine his game so he becomes an everyday 5/6....not a platoon guy.

I guess they had to fulfill the years and years of “Yandle to Philly” rumors |

He's a left side defenseman. So it means either York isn't playing or Sanheim is getting moved? Brutal! - MJL
I’m fine with moving sandy for the right price. York gonna fill that spot anyways especially if risto re signed.
Like I said last few days what is done with cap % for the d Corp if risto re ups?
If sandy moved that frees up $ depending on the return |

Yes he was an expensive buyout. I think used in a reduced role he’s a nice add. |

Might as well. As we’ve read, the locker room is torn between the Giroux camp and the Hayes camp. |

I don’t think anyone is…which is awesome. Best fit, deepest defense since I have been a Flyers fan.

I’m legit worried about this aspect of it |

I can’t wait for this team to do well so we can all hear how miserable you’ll be 😂 explain how this is bad - why is giving York ahl time and a mid season call up while playing a CHEAP pp specialist for 1 year a bad thing?
I will wait, this outta be good… - black_francis
It’s not. It’s kinda like hexy plan tho isn’t it? Let the kids develop as much in ahl to make sure they’re ready for prime time. Never a bad idea in my book. Absolutely no need to rush players. No harm ever done letting them spend too much time in ahl |

There is no blockage that is just a crutch for some. A NHL coach will play who he feels are his better players. Fans will always disagree at times. There is no sabotage or anything of the sort.
Like I said yesterday I think morin is AHL bound to get him reps and games anyway.
