At his peak Malkin was probably the most dominant player out of the last how many or so years. Problem is the floor wasnt as consistent. Hate him all you want, the guys body of work is about as stud as it gets.

I don’t think Hextall left a big mess ….it was more just time to use some of the accumulated assets on improving the Flyers. But I to am looking forward to the new look Flyers ….and it wouldn’t surprise me if Fletch has other moves in mind.

I agree. He didn't leave a big mess.

We'll never know how Hextall would have handled this as he was fired before he had a chance to fully implement his plan, which everyone knew going in was a "big picture" plan. He may have made moves like Chuck has made this offseason, or he may not have. But to blame him for the current state of the organization is just ridiculous.
