Yandle signed 1 year 900k per Facebook?

Not a big fan of his but as a 3rd pair that knocks Braun out of the lineup I’m all for it.

- hereticpride

Yandle plays the left side. Braun play the right side. You need a defensive defenseman on the 3rd pair to play in tight game defensive situations and on the PK. Yandle knocks York out of the lineup.

yandle was an asset 10 years ago, now he is a burden who got replaced by garbage

I’m not a fan of this Yandle signing. Most on this site thought York would be on this team out of the gate. IMO, I thought Zamula, maybe had a slight edge with those two. Either way, I think this move blocks the progress of both. Unless management knows, both are nowhere near ready to make that step.
- Laceemup88

It doesn't preclude York and/or Zamula from making the team. It just grants insurance in case they don't.

It's pretty much the writing on the wall. This is a pre ordained move that puts both in the AHL to start the season. Now either could trump that with a really outstanding camp or pre-season but that's unlikely to happen. Do you remember our discussion on overcorrecting?

it also protects against a meyers like season. Going in thinking they are ready sure didnt help us last year.

Not sure about that but I think it can be solid. If yandle is still able to be effective on the 3rd pair we should be ok.

Yorks job eventually but if he’s ready and they are both effective holy depth.

This gives York and Zamula more time to develop which is not a bad thing. The one thing I noticed in the few games that York played last year was he looked small out there. It would not be a bad thing for him to get more time to bulk up a bit. Zamula looked much more in place in the game he played, at least in terms of size.

York did not play small to me. He was poised under pressure and moved the puck against the forecheck well.

Yandle can certainly be driving the 2nd PP unit and giving this team a good 15 minutes a night. He still has gas in the tank and is only two years removed from a monster offensive season. On the 3rd pair I think this will work out well.

I was not referring to how he played, I agree he played well. I am referring to how he actually looked out there in comparison to the other players. He looked small to me and so I do have concerns if we rush him too quickly he can get hurt. So I don't think its a bad thing to give him more time to bulk up a bit. I also would not discount what I posted earlier about AV, I think he really wants to coach a veteran lineup.

How much are you expecting him to bulk up? By all accounts he is a fitness demon. I don't agree about concerns about getting hurt. Wait until you see how Ellis looks small compared to other players.

No, I know what you mean about Ellis, he looks small out there to at 5' 10" 180lbs. It was just an impression I had watching the games, I was worried York was going to get hammered in the corner and bye-bye shoulder. Right now York is 20 years old, 5' 11" 175lbs. I think I would be more comfortable if he added 10lbs of muscle this off season.

I would put money on York weighing more than 175 lbs.

I can't believe Vegas did Fleury dirty like that, especially if it was done to acquire Eichel.

I would expect York to get that 3LD, based on his poise and talent. I mean I don't think he is turning to jelly faced with KY filling that opening.

They talked about it before with some of the moves they made to be under the cap. Signing and the trading people after a year. Player beware. New org. Don’t blame them, they are going for it.

5 stanley cups versus 2 is pretty decent for the same time in existence

doubt you were alive when the flies last won lord stanleys cup

pens still have the best player in the world, and a far better arena in which to play

Cam and Yegor will be fine splitting time between the AHL and the Flyers for this year if it comes down to that. With injuries and rest considerations either or both will get some call up time. No doubt they are the future...patience is a virtue

After he retires it’ll be interesting to see if you guys can keep the arena. Mario and Crosby. Add lottery winners to that achievement list.
