Laberge certainly didn't work out but saying he was a reach as a 2nd round pick is not accurate.
Mackenzie had him ranked 32nd.

That's right, he was highly ranked coming into the draft. That hit he took pretty much ended it for him; what a shame. This is why you can't just put all your eggs in the draft, you must have balance in your approach to building a good team. |

Derailed by concussion. Laberge absolutely has talent. Still only 23 but definitely needs a change of scenery.

Yandle has had a great career. At 35 how much does he have left? We went through a similar situation with Vincent Lecavalier not that long ago. Given the low cost for only 1 year I can live with it. - DANCER
Hasnt Yandle been bought out twice...has any other player had 2 buyouts. Guy can still run a PP but cant play defense though better then GHOST was and 3.5M cheaper. Nothing to lose signing |

He also suffered a pretty devastating head injury in his Draft +1 year. You hate to blame a lack of success on injuries, but he had quite a bit to overcome. He also suffered some personal tragedies in his family, the year leading up to his draft. I wish him the best wherever he ends up. |

Never ending discussion, his durability and production has been incredible. The shot is one of a kind, I’d say top 10. Top 5 is crazy, just top of my head going old school Gretzky Mario Orr , is he in the two after that, idk. Crosby has to be over him too. - ClaudeFather
He’s 5th at best. No one is going ahead of Gretzky, Mario, Orr and Gordie Howe. He’s in the next grouping along with Howie Morenz, Jean Beliveau, Rocket Richard, Doug Harvey, Mike Bossy, Bobby Hull and perhaps Mark Messier.
So somewhere between 5-12. |

Hey, he corrects me too and sometimes he's right to correct me. In the end, he is a good fan and a good guy, and I like the debates we have. I find them informative and fun, but then again I like to be challenged in my thinking. That's the thing we must not forget, in the end we are all on this forum because we love the Flyers (well all but the trolls) and want to connect with others that love the Flyers also. I mean, I am thankful for you guys, because living in Boston, who can I really talk to about the Flyers, especially this past week with all the trades and stuff. Being part of a community is important for our well-being, and didn't we all get a dose of that during this pandemic. So my point is, I don't mind being corrected, or even sometimes insulted, its just great to be part of a community of people that love the team and want them to win! |

I had to go back and look, but I found that Laberge was Team Orr's MVP in the 2016 CHL Top Prospect's Game. Konency was the team MVP a year earlier. The kid definitely had and I believe still has skill. You're right, a fresh start somewhere else might be best. |

Last year, 71% odd of his starts were in the offensive zone. 4-on-4 was closer to 80%.

I'd say this puts the Flyers with one of the deepest defenses in the league. - jd250
Not sure about that but I think it can be solid. If yandle is still able to be effective on the 3rd pair we should be ok.
Yorks job eventually but if he’s ready and they are both effective holy depth. |

I feel for the kid.
You're right about balance but you need a foundation to start.

Someone mentioned getzlaf on the cheap. Would love it but long shot. This is the move I see chuck making. Him or bellemare are the two I would target. Not thrilled with the rest of the 4 th line options due to the cap. Cizikas will be too much. |

Keith Jones was on the radio either yesterday morning or this morning and was talking about moving on from Giroux as the captain. He said he didn't see any reason to do so an compared it to when Lindros was stripped of the C and it was given to Desjardins. He sort of said that the players were the ones that pushed for that change back then, but didn't expand on it. I'm not sure I've ever heard that side of that particular situation. - shekkie
Yeah I forgot those days when they stripped Lindros's parents of the captaincy... |

80% of team should be built through draft. Balance the other 20% between trades and fa |

Yandle signed 1 year 900k per Facebook?
Not a big fan of his but as a 3rd pair that knocks Braun out of the lineup I’m all for it. |

Yep. I don’t think it knocks him out. I think it’s a solid addition as a 3rd pair guy could be with Braun. |

I’m not a fan of this Yandle signing. Most on this site thought York would be on this team out of the gate. IMO, I thought Zamula, maybe had a slight edge with those two. Either way, I think this move blocks the progress of both. Unless management knows, both are nowhere near ready to make that step. |

I’m guessing they’re just covering their bases with added depth after how terrible the defense was last year. Plus who knows how long Morin stays healthy. |
