Even if he got a 1st, it was a 2nd. lol

Johnson is definitely better than Strome and Suter. So there is that.

A career 50% at the FO dot. That will help a bit

I don’t think most of us defended him to the death as much as pointed out that many of his moves proved correct during the cup runs. And remember, many were mocking Bowman, the Hawks and some players while they were winning. Unless there’s a big picture here that Stan is architecting, I not only have no idea what the end result is supposed to be I have some serious doubts about his strategy.
- paulr

Other factors at play here....has to be....again stop just stopping at STan and readdress your questions up the ladder. Stan's plan may have likely been detonated due to the off the ice issues, negative press, etc......and none of us can ignore that aspect.

Nope...zero proof.....but when you start mortgaging future assets for a PROVEN TODAY asset that isn't just a win tomorrow move....then you double down on a goalie who's a premadonna and agent's an ass hat, and hope he'll be motivated to still play.....and then add another top 6 winger (which you were missing) get out from Seabrooks AWFUL deal, acquire a 2nd round pick.....and now......it gets interesting.

Are they a cup contender? Nope. Can they make the playoffs? Absolutely. Look at that top 9......pretty good......trade DeHaah, sign a veteran D man on the cheap to fill out the top 4 and IF, and yes it's a HUGE IF, Fleury plays.....you have something.....is it sustainable? No idea, but obviously they are making a run at something because either Danny Wirtz or Rocky Wirtz wanted it done, AND/OR PaTrick kane is tired of wasting the last of his prime years playing on a team on pace for 82 points a year.

I am not saying I agree with it, but I am not surprised as so many here are.....so many PROVEN MEDIA have said from the day the playoffs ended the hawks were looking to acquire a TOP d man.....and the Hawks were looking at a VETERAN goalie...so what is the shocker here? That it happened? Come on...you guys all know better than that.....

WTF is going on… even for Stan these moves don’t make sense. I feel like Rod Sterling is the Hawks new GM.

I'm afraid to hit refresh on twitter....

Looks at the roster...looks at cap friendly....there has to be more moves coming.

I’ve actually never attempted that one. Beef, Lamb, or Goat?
- Ogilthorpe2

Lamb although chicken is very good too. GOAT is what I call you about your cooking exploits. Right now my favorite food is Indian with the Punjabi region the best of Indian. Punjabi food may be the only cuisine that could entice me to be a vegetarian.

I am not turning on him loving this wheel and deal ,we may be the oldest team in the league soon .
- oldduffman

Oldest… youngest… Stan doesn’t care. The Hawks will be the SHORTEST team in the NHL.

Stan right now (probably):

Hawks still have about 7M in cap space. Now to get rid of Strome and the big Oaf. Carpenter and de Haan would be nice, too.
- Elbows15

CF says with Fleury and Johnson in, and counting Shaw, I think, they have $2.4 million of cap space with 13+7+2=22 signed contracts on the roster - still need to sign some combination of Hino, Nylander, Suter, Hagel, Kampf, Zadorov.

Deal close for Strome? Lots of centers in the mix now.

Maybe it all somehow works out.

And happy 31st birthday Thursday to the newbie.

Johnson is still a useful player. I am not crazy about 3 years being left but it is far from Bowman's worse move this off-season.
- Elbows15

You’re not allowed to shed any sort of positivity on this board. Only despair….

This is a good move my stan. Johnson is a good depth player.

Wether we agree with it or not, it looks like Stan is going all in…

Agreed. Connolly, Strome, de Haan and Zadorov could all go.

ask the wirtz's.....this is a quick turnabout from a year ago....doubt stan could go rogue by himself.....just a hunch.

all this hinges in on Stan's ability to get walsh's client engaged......if that happens, they can make the season entertaining.

If they roll out the 3 headed turds......talk about d man development? Anyone who has skated knows how demoralizing it is when every mistake or 50/50 chance goes against you......want to see guys like Mitchell and Beaudin drop like rocks? Skate them in front of Subban, Lankinen, and Delia for 82 games.....that'll be fun.......

I'm sure we could package the 2nd we got from TB for someone to take Connolly at 3.5 for 2 more years left. He's good bottom 6.

Strome for picks, coveted as a #3 overall with potential at 3M for 1 more year.

Big Z for picks.

de Haan will be hardest to move I think.

I think Johnson is upgrade to Connolly and Strome and given our vets are limited to Toews and Kane, we now have another Stanley Cup winner in Johnson.

22 on the roster. Shaw will go on LTIR and add 3.9M. They aren't signing Vinnie or Kampf is my guess. Nylander will be the same a Gaudette. Hagel is the question if terms of AAV. I think he going to give Z away.

I like Indian food, but there’s not a lot of good Indian close to me. I make some pretty mean samosas. Thai by far is my favorite Asian food. I’ve been working on perfecting green curry for while. It’s getting close, but still not quite as good as my favorite restaurant’s version.

Oh, I am not positive. The Jones trade was awful before the extension and it went into horrid afterwards.

MAF is perplexing to take all his hit and get nothing else.

Johnson at least has some semblance of sense to it.

I suspect you’re right. Any GM worth his salt knows that the time to rebuild excludes trading away draft picks and young players for older players especially ones whose skill level is so questionable. Conversely this is all on Bowman and when he gets canned as all GMs do, how this all sorts itself out will determine if he ever gets another GM job again. I take that back, if Pierre Maguire can get an executive job in the NHL I’m sure Bowman can too.
