The Devils have officially extended QOs to Yegor Sharangovich, Janne Kuokkanen, AJ Greer, Gilles Senn, and Marian Studenic.
They did not tender a QO to Evan Cormier, Brandon Gignac, David Quenneville, and Colby Sissons |

I remember the dark days when we signed Sissons and thought we snuck a prospect in. Wish all the non-QO people the best and thank them for their playing time in the Devils organization. |

Me three days ago: I hope the Devils sign Hamilton at RD and package pick 29 with some prospects to the Sharks for Meier.
Reality: the Devils pick a guy they could’ve gotten way later with pick 29 and trade with the Sharks for a 25 year old former 5th round pick RD on his 3rd NHL team.

I hear you and i went ballistic when I heard Stillman's name. But he is a Devil prospect now. And the more evaluations I read about him the more I like him. Was he optimal at 29, probably not. Could he be a good prospect for NJ, probably. Won't be first or probably not second line. But he could be a stellar third line similar to Coleman. I have been walking back my overreaction on day 1, and hoping for the best. Also, unless its a complete bargain no interest in Meier and his $10 million QO. |

So some names out there as they were not offered their QO:
The Boston Bruins didn't give Nick Ritchie a qualifying offer.
Evgeny Svechnikov did not be receive a qualifying offer by the Detroit Red Wings.
The Dallas Stars did not give Julius Honka a qualifying offer.
Granted nothing great here, but I think some serviceable players. And more to come.... |

I would definitely take a look at Ritchie, seems like a Fitzy guy. The only two guys dont interest me at all though. The big one that i saw was Pius Suter wasn't qualified from the Hawks after a successful rookie season, and i think we should be all over that. That should be our 3C target |

The thing about Honka is he is a right shot defenseman (we could use some depth there) who never got much of a chance in Dallas. Take a swing at him and put him in Utica and see what happens. |

Meh, i think his time has passed. He hasnt been good in the AHL for the past few seasons and had a mediocre season in Finland two years ago. Theres a reason he's never fully gotten a chance in Dallas. We just added Jaros, who is the same age as Honka, and has just been better
Ritchie and Suter are really the only 2 i have any interest in, specifically Suter. Would be a nice add to the bottom 6 |

I agree with this assessment. Hoping to come away from free agency with a legit NHL level RD, not more depth. Also I think Ritchie could look real good as a Bastian replacement at RW. |

I’m not going to hate on Stillman the player, but I do hate the pick. At least trade back and pick up some additional picks if you’re going that far off the board. I wasn’t concerned with the $10m QO next year on Meier because I figure the team has all season to work out a longer term extension. I’m hoping the Devils at least inquired and the asking price was astronomical.
The only thing that worries me now is trading too much for Tarasenko and having him continue to look like he has post injury. |

Tarasenko, if you are taking on that salary ($9 million is cash, no signing bonus this year) the Blues have to give you a sweetner. If half salary then you might have to give up a B prospect, otherwise hard pass. |

The Blues arent giving up a sweetener to take Tarsenko lol. Its going to cost a player/pro ready prospect and a pick to get him, whether salary is retained or not |

Tarasenko looked decent in the playoffs and is said to be 100%.
I would expect him to put up around 25 goals in a full season. Maybe more with a solid center. |

If Armstrong wants to hardball then he can't sign Landeskog. |

Watch out for defenseman Viktor Hurtig. Love to see how late rounders would fare a few years from now and this kid has the tools to break into the NHL.
Wow, that’s quite the evaluation based on nothing.
