If he's found guilty, his pro hockey career is likely finished.
- Nucker101

In the era of #MeToo? His career is already finished, even if he's not guilty, a court case that will drag all his character flaws and unsavoury habits will make him unsignable. That's on TOP of his being uncoachable, consistantly out of shape, a known partier and play that's declined significantly.

Someone will likely sign him, and he'll get cut in camp because they have nothing invested in him. Bad pick, move on.

How about Ondrej Kase as a reclamation project on the cheap. He’s only 25 but has had concussion issues. Good skill level.

I'd take him if he came cheap for sure, potential 15-20 goal guy

But I don't see why he'd sign here since the Canucks winger depth is kinda crowded now with Pod coming over and garland added.

If I were him, I'd sign a one year deal with whichever team has the most open ice time

Benning didn't rule out Sutter. Riley Nash is usually a solid 4C, same with Bellmare

I would've liked to include Johan Larsson in the OEL trade, he's a really solid 4C, I believe the Sabres used him to play against top lines when he was in Buffalo and he held his own defensively.

You mean the same Johan Larsson that was -30 a few years back, and usually got crushed if he wasn't playing against 4th liners?
Also, pretty sure he is a wing, from what I recall of him.

to set the record straight, larsson is a center...he played some wing but he works the pivot in the bottom-six...he also played against the top lines when he was in buffalo and did an outstanding job his final two seasons for the sabres...prior to that, he and his other fourth-liners were tasked with the job of flipping the ice while playing for an overmatched rookie head coach in phil housley and he was excellent in that role as well...in the two seasons under housley (2017-19) larsson's o-zone start was 23.69%, lowest on the team for any player with 70 or more games played

just sayin'

Fair enough.

Could you do me a favour and explain what 'flipping the ice' means, as I have heard this twice in the last month and have never heard of it before in my 50+years of following hockey.
Thanks.

that line was sent onto the ice, almost exclusively, in a defensive situation with the task of getting back the puck and transitioning to offense, which includes getting in on the forecheck

Thanks for that.

We could use a couple players that are good at 'flipping the ice. 👍

i like larsson in a defensive, fourth-line role...when he's on his game he's like a gadfly--really annoying...wouldn't expect much production, but players like him add value to almost any team

I enjoy watching a solid defensive forward or 2. Very valuable to any team.

What's the plan in Buffalo, going to try build around Cozens, Quinn Power and Dahlin?

Another potential player for the 4C slot:

There isn’t a ton of offensive pop to Kampf’s game, but he ticks a ton of boxes for any team in the market for a fourth-line centre.

Kampf and the Blackhawks are still engaged in contract talks and could come to an agreement, according to The Athletic’s Scott Powers. If the Czech-born defensive pivot hits the open market Wednesday, however, expect there to be a fair number of suitors of his services.

The 26-year-old pivot is a reliable faceoff winner, led all Blackhawks forwards in penalty killing ice time by over 40 minutes this past season and while his offensive production was non-existent — just one goal in 56 games played in 2021 — he’s still a decent bet to be a 10-goal fourth-line centre, capable of logging a ton of penalty killing minutes and giving any teams star players 10 to 11 five-on-five minutes of relatively worry-free rest per game.

There’s value in that, at the right price. And in a free-agent market with very few centre options, Kampf should have a decent market.

They wanted him with retained salary. Benning, wanting the cap room said no.
