Again, this has nothing to do with Weber deciding he never wants to play again/retire. It has *everything* to do with his contract status. He gets traded back to Nashville, Nashville tells him he's going to ride out his contract on LTIR as opposed to officially retiring. Weber gets paid out his remaining contract as opposed to terminating it upon retirement. Nashville loses whatever actually remains to be paid out, takes the cap hit, but doesn't have the recapture penalties against the cap.
It's in Nashvilles best interest to trade for Weber, and pay him out to stay on LTIR.

well usually when a reporter says it's "confirmed" it means it actually happened. I have no clue what Strickland's track record is, mistakes can be made but chances are the habs will tweet about it soon
