I really liked going to St. John Fisher. My brother lives near one of the Pittsford High Schools. We would walk over and take the bus to St. John Fisher for 1st Saturday practice. Such a great time. Gonna miss doing that. Won't be the same in big stadium for practices open to the public. Been to Eagles TC at the Link. It sucks. They used to practice at Lehigh. Fans loved it up there.

If you want to call Sam Reinhart a rental you are just lying to yourself.

I understand the pain of being a Buffalo Sabres fan but let's be truthful in our pain.

I guess you think they could have salvaged Sam and Jack and built a winner surrounding them? I dont disagree with the mis-management of this team since GMTM, but at some point you have to say "This is a mess." and start over. I dont think anyone is happy about it, but we bridge deal-ed Sam out of town and gave the farm and the "C" to a head-case and we are where we are. They arent willing to go through a re-build here so we have to get what we can for them at this point and move on, in my opinion.

The thing that has killed this team is GMTM - he traded picks like they were worth nothing, and on top of that we drafted poorly. I dont think anyone could survive what came after GMTM, and trying to refill the cupboards made Botterill "reach" on too many players and it didnt work out.

I like what Adams is doing and we wont know if we lost the Sam trade for a while. We might look back and say differently.

Important re-signing here from Vegas, which will now require some cap-clearing at some point. It was a huge priority for the Golden Knights to keep Alec Martinez. The pend UFA D had been pondering Vegas' offer since last week.

Hearing Vegas @GoldenKnights are closing in on an extension to keep D Alec Martinez off the market.

Expect Martinez to come in around $5 million, perhaps a little more, on a three-year deal.

Pretty disappointed with the Reinhart trade. Unreal that the Sabres management thinks rebuilding the rebuild is the answer.

As long as you don’t get the right package you hold onto him. In all honesty we haven’t seen a guy this talented on the Sabres what Perrault? Keep him. Who gives a poop if he throws a hissy fit? The NMC can also be used for teams he’d probably wouldn’t accept a trade too like the Flames.

It's almost like sam was overrated by plenty of Sabres fans.

Interdivison trade for a future 1st rounder.

Why didnt they get more?

One would assume that other non division offers were worse. (If any)

It was Reinhart’s contract status, and the uncertainty of it he will sign for any term that limited the return for Sabres, nothing about him as a player did.

Eklund is this years Pettersson.

Sharks and Kings both got top 3 players in this draft at 7 and 8.

Maybe. Probably not though as Pettersson is a top 5-7 center in the league and there's about a 5% chance Eklund is that good.

You seem to put a ton of stock into the NHLE drat models which ranked Rosen 214th or something crazy and we took him 14th.

Those models are really high on points and ice time which in this past year was a very weird year.

Re-tool but still add good players. I would have rather traded Sam for a comparable NHLer. Hell even Patrik Laine.

I was not a fan of TM when he was here and I was a big fan of Botterill. I was wrong and I believe TM was leagues above Botterill. Botterill is who drove the nail in the coffin on this team

I personally wouldn’t have gotten the shot but they (doctors) told me I had to seeing as I’m awaiting a transplant.

He is a rental. Just like an upcoming UFA on the last year of his deal, he can resign with the team that acquired him. It is no different for Reinhart, he is only locked with this team for this year, but, he can, just like an acquired pending UFA, resign with the team that acquired him.

NHLe models are about as good as any other biased opinion. They don't take into account the minutes these kids play, like at all.

A free developed asset for one year of a backup goalie? What's so bad about that? For the mid 60th pick. That won't show up in Buffalo any sooner than 2024.

I don't understand how we didn't learn our lesson the first time we tried this method. Losing doesn't breed winners. Even the Oilers are still struggling but I commend them for hiring a manager that knows how to win and wants to.
