it's pretty amazing that sam could "only" fetch a first rounder and a very good goalie prospect...i'm ok with it and like pham's approach to the risto and sam trades...plus we'll only see sam in the division for one season before (i believe) he's headed out west

People are surprised that they didn't pick centers because the depth is lacking, and they didn't do it, and they said they wouldn't.

So... they were truthful.

With the centres we have right now(Cozens, Mitts, Peterka) and the centres coming up in the draft the next 2 years we didnt really need to grab any. Plus Jack should get us one or 2 back.

And then before this draft we had no body on the wings especially the right side. Now the wings are loaded with depth for a couple years.

I'm not complaining they didn't take one just stating why I think so.

Hopefully a few of these promising kids can grow and become players that help us out

If we get a center back in the Eichel trade (sounds like we will) then adding that player to Cozens and Mitts...it makes sense we're going after wingers.

People like to feel their posts are more important when they post stuff that was already discussed ad nauseum in the last blog. Did Peter Fish say it's their expectation Eichel will be traded in the near future?

draft twitter was way overhyping Eklund for months and it was obvious the NHL wasn't as high on him.

Almost every draft insider had Eklund anywhere from 3-7.

Taking him at #1 would've been incredibly dumb

Other teams sensed that Samson was most likely gonna go to arb and try for a one year deal and then walk away from Buffalo as UFA. Is it as bad of a deal if you look at it like it was a tdl rental?

Eklund would of been a nice addition. Kid can drive a play. With Eichs leaving he could have driven some of those plays Eichel would be head manning

A free developed asset for one year of a backup goalie? What's so bad about that? For the mid 60th pick. That won't show up in Buffalo any sooner than 2024.

Pretty disappointed with the Reinhart trade. Unreal that the Sabres management thinks rebuilding the rebuild is the answer.

It's a bad deal as I hate goalie prospects (They almost never develop as planned)

I'd have been much more ok with it if it ws Tippett oand thrilled if it was Lundell

They are going to have to do something like that. They are under the cap and need salary.

so a first rounder and a very good prospect isn't bad for a rental...

and, odds are that the cats will make the playoffs and if they don't it'll be a "just miss" scenario where they'll end up 17th or 18th in the league drafting in the teens
