Have a feeling sabres won't resign Ullmark and will turn to rookies to man the net.

I don't see a splash in free agency aside for some tweeners.

Any trades won't involve roster players that might allow us to win.

This is the direction for next year but I do believe it will be only a one year plan.

That's not happening. They can't take a chance on ruining yet another core by blatantly losing on purpose.

I feel pretty confident that they'll make sure that they're not throwing anyone into the fire. If they're here, they're ready to be here and to play the minutes given.

wonder who they're gonna get to take the heat off of cozens and mitts, who may get thrown into the fire as their top-six centers

I think the opposite - they'll sign Ullmark. There aren't many jobs open and he is guaranteed decent money and to be the starter here.

Time counting down fast...
Adam's has about 23 hrs to get the Eichel deal done.
Else it gets really, really tough for this season.

Maybe.

Or those teams that "struck out" on the players they wanted now come after Jack.

Quick

No. The Kings would need to add another forward prospect not named Byfield with the Sabres taking Quick back to help them with the cap. They'd also have enough talent with the addition of Eichel that their 2022 1st round pick might be 20th overall or so.

So if they added Iafallo, would that work?

Not for me, as he's going to be 28 and doesn't fit the age range that makes the most sense for the team.

Another forward prospect like Kupari, Kaliyev, or Pinelli would work.

Take it. Bjornfot will be a solid top 4 and Turcotte 1B/2C

I've tempered my expectations, at least when it come to the Kings. That original package might be the best they can get.

You may be correct, but if you take out Quick, the deal is Turcotte, Bjornfot, and the 22 1st for Eichel.

That's not great, and taking on Quick who has 2 years left on his deal means the price goes up a bit on the return, otherwise you're saying Eichel isn't worth the not great to start return.

If that is the case, let him rot.

What if GMKA is playing 3D chess and holding Eichel out this season with the threat of a trade. Terry pays Eichel 10 million to go on a year round yacht trip, Sabres tank grab the number 1 overall, then trades Jack for assets that speed up the rebuild, and getting another high 23' draft pick to try and snag Bedard as well.

They need another season of nothingness before they make real moves.

not sure terry would want to pay out $10M for a player not playing

edit: by the way, jack has a $7.5M signing bonus on july 1, 2022...do we remember what happened the last time a signing bonus was in play in the trade of a sabres player of significance?

This doesn't come into play as much as his NMC clause, imo. But I'm sure it's on their minds. They cannot ROR this.
