I feel like that would be both players and teams stratedy.

He hasnt done anything to earn a big AVG, and he will still want to gamble on himself that he can play to a bigger contract with a shorter term.

I think there is a chance that they could be excited. Team gives up on them. Buffalo puts them in a more prominent role. Gives them a chance to show they still have it and deserve another contract
