I'm sorry, what now? You realize that smallpox is caused by the variola virus, right? And that it's been eradicated specifically due to vaccination. Mother(frank)ers went into every backwater on the planet to vaccinate people to rid the world of the scourge of smallpox.

Also, the reason there's a different flu vaccine every year is because there are a poopload of influenza viruses. There are 18 different "H" subtypes and 11 "N" subtypes; 131 different viruses have been identified so far and they would each need a different vaccine. They usually take a handful of the most common ones that are currently circulating to make that year's vaccine which is why some years its effectiveness isn't great and others it is.

Also shingles, yellow fever, rabies, measles, mumps, rubella, polio, HPV, and hepatitis are just some of the viruses for which there is a vaccine.

Though immunity from some vaccines, like for the aforementioned smallpox, doesn't last forever.

Maybe people should read before spouting off about poop about which they know nothing.

Edit: This isn't a left/right thing either, I know a lot of super Trumpers who got their vaccine as soon as they could, because they're not ignorant.

- Wetbandit1

I got the vaccine, Dr. Virologist. My point is that people shouldn't be forced to take a vaccine that isn't even certified yet and is in an experimental phase.

Paul Hamilton believes they are going to be a budget team. Cap around 70 mil.

Wow Paul, great insights! He borders Harrington with my most despised Buffalo Media.

He has 15 minutes to fill. I can't imagine you or any of us filling it with brilliant insight on this team.

Sign some good vets to 1 year deals for 20-30% more than they can get somewhere else. Then trade them at the deadline for picks.

I'd be looking at Nick Bonino, Zach Parise, Travis Zajac, or Getzlaf, though they would have to be out of options to come here.

- matty12345

Rather maximize that cap space and take on a bad contract or 2 for more picks or young players.

One year contracts yes. As bad as they are who cares. More than 1 year? No thanks.
- Fattony1187

Depending on what we get back, I’d be ok with 2years- 3yrs max
It’s gonna be a few more tough seasons for us imo

I don’t disagree with that. But if we are tanking again.

Suck like the sens did last year and keep costs low

- Sabretooth9

Why?
That does nothing for us
Use that Cap Space to our advantage

The amount of teams terrified of arbitration is kinda funny.

2 years could be ok. I really think in 2022-23 we can be a fringe playoff team if we hit on a big three draft pick next season

I think the other good news is that (if all goes well) our prospect pipeline should be filled for years to come.
