It would be silly to deny 2 players of top caliber though. We'll have to draft that top line center just like last time. And hope he doesn't want to bail on the Sabres in six years because of utter incompetence. Eichel even in his current condition is extremely difficult for GMs to acquire. Every other piece can be found. Look at the Buchnevich, Reinhart trades.

The only soul ripping trades out there are for elite C's. Which is why it's imperative we draft one in 22 and or 23.

- TheSabresTaco

don't want to watch a year of not being able to ice a top line. I get it, but this looks awful. i also don't want to see cozens and casey playing above their level. that's not development. i just hope we get some pieces for jack so we can slot dudes where they belong and not above their level.

It’s because a pandemic was politicized for gain by both parties. It’s tragic really. Being a Canadian who’s lived in States for 24 years now, I’ve never thought this country would crumble to its knees over weather to get a vaccine or not. All politics. Toxic politics. Problem is the hard facts:
1. People who choose to ignore the virus will end up killing other people. Directly or indirectly.
2. Unless we get to heard immunity, more and more variants will pop up.
3. Fastest way to heard immunity is vaccine.
4.Thanks to the largest misinformation campaign in the history of this county, 50% of the citizens refuse to get vaccinated.
5. We are the most privileged nation in the world. While other nations have to beg for vaccines, we chose not to take them or have them expire.
6. While we refuse to take them, we also refuse to give them to nations in need.

These are just facts

- lulags

Unfortunately the very definition of herd immunity was hijacked to now being defined as the % of population vaccinated which literally goes against historical science. Why aren’t people testing positive for Covid anti-bodies included in that number? I’d also like to ask why highly vaccinated countries such as Israel are about to reinforce lockdowns? The goal posts just keep moving and will continue to move, next up they will sell everyone on a booster shot every 3-6 months.

Shane Wright 2022!

Or we just get a Zegras or Rossi or Hughes or whatever back for Eichel.

- matty12345

Getting who we get back in an Eichel trade will not make a difference in the Wrong for Wright campaign.

And to get to where he wants this team to be there are going to be some hard choices made.

“You have to,” Guerin said. “Firing people sucks. Trading people sucks. Buying people out sucks.”

But if you don’t make those kinds of moves how do you change what has been an ongoing assault on mediocrity in the Twin Cities? The team has not advanced beyond the second round since 2003 and has not won a playoff round since 2015.

Read it ya (frank)in muppets.

Rfa is a little different than ufa
But in Sam's case, not extending should still have more value to the panther's as a ufa such as risto.

I think Florida is a great fit for soft sam. You have a tough squad that can protect him.

Big thing for both risto and sam, their next contracts will probably be 6.5-7 million long term.

These guys were barely worth their 5.2 and 5.4 the past few seasons.

Like you said, it's like a tdl move

- Boss34

Samson had arbitration rights, though. He wasn’t gonna do Buffalo any favors after two bridge deals, and then bringing in Skinner and giving him that deal. He was gonna return the loyalty shown to him by the Sabres and only sign a 1 yr deal and then gone.
Hopefully Hornqvist will rub off on him, (although Reinhart already seems willing to stand in front of the net and take the abuse that comes along with it.) The whole team seemed to play with bigger balls and determination last year after Hornqvist and Gudas joined them.

Yeah, here's what I think. While it's unlikely any of us has a clue about what's inside Darcy's head, and things like the salary cap, NTCs/NMCs, and the declining economy's impact on future revenues make it nearly impossible to trade anyone of any significance, it's not inconceivable that the Sabres could make a mid-season move.

Vanek, Roy, Miller, Pommer are probably not on the block since they represent the young core of this team and are all locked up long-term. We all know Vanek's contract is insane, but given the length and amount of the others, it seems unlikely to me there's a better deal out there. Remember Larry Quinn is a numbers guy, and 5 mil 6 years from now will be looking pretty good. Roy's deal is an especially favorable one for the club. You might even be able to throw Goose into this category b/c his value to the Sabres is high given his hustle and toughness.

Max, Kotalik, and Connolly are popular choices for a change of venue, but their UFA status would mean they'd need to go to a contender for the receiving team to be willing to assume the risk. That said, what's the likelihood of a contender sending the Sabres something worthy of a blockbuster? That's not even taking into account Max sucking for the last 2 years, Kotalik getting a reputation of being lazy, and (Tin) Connolly being more fragile than the leg lamp in A Christmas Story. This, coming from the guy who actually owns a Connolly jersey.

As far as young talent at forward goes, Stafford, MacArthur, Paille are the only roster players in that category. They're all tradable, but not enough to bring in an impact player. To me, the Sabres would need to include one of Mancari, Gerbe, or Kennedy to get another team interested. Possible, though Gerbe seems like he's got a future here.

Lastly, if they're really trying to fix the recent injury problem at defense, they're not going to trade any defensemen. Even still, it's more likely they'll do what they did last year and bring in a veteran like Nolan Pratt to temporarily fill the gap until Weber and Sekera are healthy again (a few weeks?). I haven't looked to see who like that is available, but they found someone last year and could probably do it again.

We Sabres fans have gotten used to the fact that Darcy rarely makes any moves. In fact, who really does anymore? I'd love to be wrong, but not at the expense of 26 / 9 / 30 / 29. You can have Peters. Twice.

😳😂😂😂.
The jabbed are spreading vid as much as anyone else. My wife had it. I am getting over it. The 12 people who tested positive before my wife ALL had the jab. The jab is not the answer. The PA who talked to my wife said the jab doesn't protect against the delta variant. The powers to be sure have done a good job of dividing the country.

Good post, most of it.

Nobody's gonna make sam tougher though. You get what you paid for.

Sam's gonna be a good fit in Florida. Plenty of muscle to make sure he's safe.

Your team played as a team. Sabres let everyone take runs at our player without retribution.

Does Sam's arbitration rights transfer to Florida?
Still seams like a better situation than trading for a ufa?

Maybe I'm missing something, but can't Florida keep him for 1 more year? Adding value vs. Ufa?
