Ive been pushing the Dvorak thing for a while… however, is there an interest in Monahan? Someone mentioned it the other day. I think we all kinda forgot about him. Months ago when it was all new we talked about him and Lindholm for a bit.
- aecliptic

No to Lindholm and definitely a no to Monahan.

Monahan is $6.375 for two more years. Wouldn't want to have to re-sign him.

So what do you guys think of nick Ritchie as a signing target? I know he plays left wing but if they’re going after toughness he fits the bill ....

Right now… i feel our bottom 6 is pretty set with the exception of 4RW. I think Rangers have been linked to Martinook.

Definitely strikes me as more of a 3rd liner. Former 10th overall pick with solid offense and toughness, could see him getting a decent contract somewhere. Would be a good signing if not an astronomical contract but would pretty much ensure Gauthier is out the door.

Martinook is perfect for a 3rd/4th line role on NYR. He is high energy and tough in d zone and on forcheck. Only issue I see moving forward is at the 2C/3C role.

Is it Strome and Chytil or Strome and Goodrow, w/ Chytil on wing or is it Strome being traded and getting another 2c? To me that is the biggest ??.. We will find out by week's end

He was on pace for 21 goals and 38 points if it were a full season. I would 100% sign him, he’s the type of guy that could bring toughness up and down the lineup. Kakko/Krav struggling a bit? Put him in the top 6. Kakko/Krav playing well? Put him on the 3rd or 4th line. I’d love signing a guy like him, would really change the dynamic of this team even further.

How's a guy like Dvorak who has career high of 18 goals and 38pts an upgrade over Strome for 2nd line center see alot of hype for Dvorak and I'm not sure why.

Pretty damn good! That team would wear down opponents nightly. Kreiders cap hit on the 3rd line is still brutal but it’s where he fits best. Playing PP and PK helps ease the blow. Would love to see him come out possessed this season. Sucks to have such mixed feelings about him with so many years remaining.

Agreed. He’s going to be a real good player in the next 2-3 years. Most guys from his draft class are still in the AHL.
- nyrangers9479

Only one player from round one of the 2017 draft has not played in he NHL and way more than 50% of them were roster players this past season.

Around half split time in the AHL/NHL this past season. I didn’t realize it was that much this season. Only the top 3 players from that draft have played more games than Chytil, that’s crazy.

I’m torn on Drurys performance so far. Gallant was who i wanted as coach… and we got him. Goodrow was a guy i wanted us to target in FA… and we got him.

I also understand the need to create space in the Top 6 for Kakko, Kravtsov, and a lesser extent Gauthier… but it does feel like Drury has a vision… has “his guys”… and if it means losing trades (Buch/Blais).. or overpaying UFA’s (Goodrow)… then so be it… thats what he’s doing to have next years roster exactly as he planned.

I think thats extremely bad asset management but i also think its too early to tell if this roster will be better than last years. Something tells me when all the chips fall into place before October and despite losing trades/overpaying players… we may have a more complete roster with a purpose

Look at Strome’s stats and let me know how “impressive” they were prior to the Rangers signing Panarin. Now include Dvorak’s far superior faceoff ability and 200ft game. Dvorak was also behind guys on the depth chart, your parallel… look at Tomas Hertl’s stats.

I think Stromes numbers are inflated by playing with Panarin, but I also think Strome is a good hockey player. I think the biggest upgrade this team needs is someone who can win draws and right now our best guy is Goodrow who is career 50%.
Strome is a career 45% and was 43% last year
Zib is 49% career and 46% last year
Chytil is 39% career and 42% last year. Dvorak is 51% career and 52% last year.

I think production wise Dvorak would probably land where Strome is in that 50-60 pt range but is better defensively and better on face offs. For as well as Strome has played he’s not in the Rangers long term plans.

He may be listed as a center but hes not. He took a total of 77 faceoffs all year.

Strome had a 50pt season with Isles and mostly 30pt + seasons comparable to Dvorak. Not saying he's not better then Strome or Strome hasn't benefited from playing with Panarin and alot can be said for his faceoff ability and defensive ability but you can't just assume he's gonna have same chemistry with Panarin or whoever he plays with and be a 50 or 60 pt player anymore then I can that he won't.

Strome is rumored to the same 3 teams for the past few weeks. Looking at the rosters and being that all 3 teams are trying to upgrade at center I’m not sure what we’d be getting in return.

If I had to guess from VGK it would be picks and maybe a lower level prospect. They don’t have much in terms of prospects and we don’t need to add roster players (it wouldn’t be a center coming back the other way)

I know the rumors from OTT are Logan Brown would be a part of the deal but he plays much softer than his 6’6 size and is entering his 5th year since being drafted in 2016 and has only played 30 games in the NHL. Maybe Shane Pinto could be a good target, let him develop a little in the AHL before calling him up. I would guess Norris wouldn’t be traded, especially not for Strome.

Now that we’re rumored to be signing Nemeth SEA doesn’t have much to offer besides picks. They drafted 8 LHD in Soucy Dunn Giordano Chowlowski Bayreuther Fleury Lauzon MacDermond and also signed Oleksiak. So being they have 9 LHD on their roster it really slims down the pickings. The only thing I can see them trading is picks or maybe if they traded some of those LHD they could flip whoever they get.

And Dvorak is under contract for 4 more years at slightly less than Strome's current cap hit.

If we could swing Strome for picks or a guy like Pinto, then turn some combo of Chytil/Gauthier/Jones/Nils etc into Dvorak or a similar center, I’d call that successful.

Well we dont really have a true defined 1st line, its 1A and 1B. Its the same lines everyone posts with Panarin’s line at the top.
