There is some of that going on. People turned on him almost from the day he got the job.

I actually disagree with this. My friend and I always believed he would be the best option over Mark Hunter. Where I have kind of soured on him a bit is his managing of assets. I get the flat cap affected what they could offer to Hyman, but a contract negotiation should've happened last summer. If he wasn't going to resign for a number that worked, he should've been dealt. Same goes with Rielly this offseason. The assets he gave up at the deadline didn't help us at all. I know Foligno got hurt in the playoffs, but he didn't look great at the end of the season. Rittich looked awful as well.

The one thing I am still happy about is his drafting. Robertson looks like he can be a useful middle 6 player. Sandin has looked good and looks like he will run a pp and play 20 minutes a night. Some people had Knies as a 1st rounder, some people had Voit as a late 1st or 2nd rounder. I do wish he would've traded down and gotten more lottery tickets this year but people are high on the guys he drafted.

I really hope he has a good free agency or makes a significant trade. Running the same team minus 3 players will not drastically change the culture. We need a guy who will drag the team into the fight like Hyman did on a nightly basis.

Hyman dragged this team to where exactly?

He dragged them into the fight in games during the regular season but his injury looked like it affected him during the playoffs. You can't say Hyman wasn't the heart and soul guy of the team. We needed more than Hyman though.

If those reasons are both didn’t have enough experience, then yeah.

I don’t hate Trudeau, but he’s the least qualified PM in Canadian history.

And I’m a Liberal.

Wasn't Hyman either injured or recovering from an injury (and not 100%) the last three playoff series?

Pretty much, which is why a lot of people here rightfully didn't want to sign him to a long-term deal for a high caphit.

Holland not willing to pay for Hyman's rights makes no sense when he paid to acquire Duncan Keith.

Keith wasn’t a pending UFA. Hyman will sign with the Oilers. Either for 7 years as a free agent, or 8 years in a sign-and-trade.

Sure I can: Hyman isn't the heart and soul guy on the Leafs.

He is a poop disturbing pain in the ass player though. I'll give him that. We could definitely use more of it but not for his price tag.

Who would be the heart and soul guy of the leafs in your opinion? And I agree, not for that price tag.

If a 38 year old hockey player that plays 10 minutes a night, and a young star who negotiated his deal through his dad / Dregs/ Ferris to squeeze every drop out of the fruit are the heart and soul, it's no wonder this team is stuck in the first round.

The leafs broke historic team records this year, I don’t know how Dubas doesn’t get credit for that. The playoffs result was a combination of bad luck and Price playing lights out.

Ya, that’s it.

Bad luck for 5 years in a row.

Which records? Most wins ever for a 56 game season? Most wins ever in the all Canadian division? Let’s raise a banner!

You need "Shotgun Jake" to fill that void.
