Who says he didn't tell them? The players are told to score on the powerplay and yet...they didn't. I really feel the players let everyone down this year more than anything.
If they fired Keefe though. Meh. - Aaron_85
Well, if he did tell them they didn't listen... which would be another problem. It's one thing to say, "guys, score a (frank)ing goal" and another to say, "throw a cross check and make things miserable."
Not that this cost them the series nor do I actually believe Keefe should be thrown under the bus.
I'm about where you are with him: meh. |

I would absolutely trade Rielly and do it before the season starts. After yet another collapse we need a major move and a message sent to players that the core can be broken up. I also am getting tired of losing players for nothing and we can't afford to resign Rielly, which is becoming clearer by the day. Time to be proactive... - systemtool
I'm all on board the trade Rielly wagon, but who do we replace him with? (assuming Dougie is out of reach) |

So you mention trading a big contract up front then mention Landeskog. You understand it would create the same issue right?
It's the same thing every summer. Fans now think they need "insert big name here" or else they are doomed. - Aaron_85
I don't want Landeskog. Read the post - Santo wants him. |

No, we are not "forced". We are only in this situation b/c of Dubas' inflexibility and stubbornness.
That kind of goaltending will not get it done. - fifty__missions
Trading Marner, I know it won't happen, but trading Marner could fix a lot of the roster issues |

I am on trade Rielly train as well... If you can't re-sign him, trade him.

Goalies on the trade market are cheap as (frank). - Aaron_85
If holtby gets bought out by Vancouver maybe the leafs sign him to a 1 year 1 million type deal. |

Landeskog is a more expensive version of Hyman, albeit a better version of Hyman |

Then we only need to replace 90-100 points and elite penalty killing, easy peasy. |

Assuming you could get Landy for 7.5M~ the Leafs would have 5 forwards taking up 48M of the cap.
What the hell, why not?! |

Sandin
Should make people here happy. Got assets for a guy who goes to UFA next year. They say Leafs can't afford him but then want Hamilton signed?
If Rielly is traded it's for picks and prospects and some shoddy roster player.

Make that up as a group not one person
Sign Landeskog
Bring in a goalie that can help Campbell.
Also, it allows them to spend more than $900k on bottom 6 forwards..

Sandin looks to be a real possibility as the PP QB1. I'm not convinced he's ready to play 24-25mins a night though.
I'm okay with picks and prospects for Rielly. Considering what Risto got in return, I'm sure those picks would be amazeballs. Great assets to trade for other pieces, at the very least. |

Sure, if we could get a Top 4 d-man in return and some picks for Marner that'd be swell. Landy is a warrior!
I think this is pure fantasy though. I expect Marner to only be dealt after Dubas is Fredo'd by Shanny. |

Yeah, I think Brodie would be a perfect guy to play with Sandin. It's not a bad idea - ballsy, to be sure - but if you can land a good haul for Rielly and patch up some other areas, I'd be willing to gamble.
Sandin-Brodie
Muzzin-Holl
Dermott-Liljegren/Bogo-type
That 3rd pair is a bit rough but a lot easier to overhaul.
With Rielly gone, I'd run the PP1 like this:
Snake
AM34-Willie
Sandin-Marner |

Campbell has more skill than most, his biggest obstacles seem to be between the ears. Might need to get laid more often like that pitcher in Bull Durham. Drafted 11th overall, make him the highest goalie picked since Carey Price. - winsix
I didn't even think about that, but yeah . . . until Askarov came along (and tied him @ 11th). . .
I do recall how highly touted Campbell was as a junior. He was going to be the next great elite goalie. I was very jealous of Dallas' goaltending system. I recall they had Belfour, then Turco, then Lehtonen (who I thought was going to end up better career-wise than he did - I mean, he was good, but never great) and in the midst of that they had drafted Campbell, who I honestly thought from his juniors and reputation was going to carry on that tradition. |

Yes, Sunday numbers are typically a little lower, but still great to see.

campbell/Hutch last season were 21-5-3 with .921 and .919
I wouldnt expect the same win % again..but its not like they were crap.
whats different from last season. No Hyman and no Andersen (he sucked)
removing hyman does not affect the team much over 82 games. - senstroll
Little bit of a different division, but we should still be fine....maybe. |
