I do agree with the anger at Dubas. I was a supporter who’s becoming pretty damn sceptical that this is moving in the right direction. I’m also pissed at Shanahan for allowing any player that played a Shanny type of game to be moved. What does that guy even do? Cause his oversight sucks. I’m still pissed about the Habs series. That was the golden ticket and they collectively poop the bed. - Byfuglien Ate Me
It’s just bad luck according to the brilliant minds in here.
Nothing could’ve been done, Dubas should’ve won GM of the year too. Just bad luck man. 🤷♂️

Why is all the blame on Dubas when we all pretty much agree that the stars weren't real stars? How is that Dubas' fault? Every one of us would have absolutely gone with this core.
Thing is, it's tough a position for Dubas to be in. He can move Nylander or Marner this off season but if they missed the playoffs or failed again he's doomed. He might as well give his plan another shot because my guess is he's doomed if these guys fail too.

Dubas shares the blame for sure, as does Shanny and the players. I can't understand why Keefe still has a job after losing to a team that finished below .500 (even if they only lost by a goal) The easiest improvement this team could make is to hire the best possible coach there is. It's not Keefe IMO.The coach's salary does not affect the cap

Keefe is the best available coach who coached the Soo Greyhounds. |

My only argument to this is he's had one full season and it was shortened. Do you think you should be fired at your job for one mistake?
Let's be realistic. Teams shouldn't (and don't) fire their coach once a year. You won't attract a good coach that way. Why would they want to come? Regardless of money to just be thrown under a bus.

Exactly, meanwhile a team that has been borderline bankrupt several times (NYI) goes out and pays big $ and gets a coach that has a team punching well above their ability.

In a flat Cap era, it's going to be mandatory to survival that ELCs are in the line up.
Not looking good for the Leafs the next few years.
Sandin...sure, but after his playoff gaffs I don't have full faith.
Lily....not sure
Robertson...maybe
Amirov....amirite
And then who? - underhill14

I wasn't thrilled when he was hired. He was badly outcoached by the Habs rookie interim coach and Luke Richardson. Three of his direct responsibilities were poorly handled IMO.
1) Power play How can a team with this much fire power have such a dreadful power play?
2) Line matching. Why did Keefe choose not to get Matthews away from Dauault and Weber when he had home ice advantage in the series?
3) Hitting, cross-checking abuse. The Leafs were on the receiving end of this for most of the series. It is on the coach to read what the officials are calling or not calling and make adjustments. He did not.

We were talking about Dubas, he didn't hire Babs, and got rid of him as soon as he was in a position to do so. He also hired his "friend".
Babs was an expensive coach, few would say he was the best coach. Think about it this way, he won one cup coaching the Red Wings team that was the best team in the NHL for over five years. Trotz is an expensive coach that has done a good job for the NYI.

My son saw Space Jam today. Said it was putrid. A Labron James exercise in self indulgence. 29% Rotten Tomatoes

Assistant coaches deal with the power play. I don't know how Maholtra still has a job there to be honest.
I agree on number two.
I don't know what adjustments he can make against officials? Like tell his guys to not get in front of the cross-checks?

He dragged them into the fight in games during the regular season but his injury looked like it affected him during the playoffs. You can't say Hyman wasn't the heart and soul guy of the team. We needed more than Hyman though. - matt1337

Before Caufield broke into the league every Dubas wife in here was so cocky about Robertson. They all said he was further along in his development and he’s going to be a much better player, but that didn’t happen. The truth is none of the Leafs prospects look decent. Liljegren is a bust, Amirov did nothing at the WJC or after. Niemela/Hirovenen/ other Finn will probably amount to nothing. Dubas hasn’t drafted any notable Canadians and and passed on some real good ones. He’s been brutal at almost every aspect of his job. Leafs fans are either brutally honest and fair (me), or absolute homers who embarrass themselves amongst other hockey fans. - Tanooki
