I have a theory.

Montreal has discussed Eichel. Widely known info.

If you think Eichel is a generational talent (Ek's words) then everyone is available, including Suzuki, KK, Caufield, etc...hence the post today.

If you actually know Eichel's value, then the post today is preposterous. And that's why it hasn't been reported anywhere else. Eichel's contract and injury history reduces his value greatly.

Eichel in dutch translates to idiot. He has burnt his Buffalo bridges and wants out of this terrible franchise. 99 didn't bring in a great haul, so why should Eichel? What Buff wants and what they get is two different stories. He should get a return offer for maximum three players. A center, a draft pick and a good prospect.
For MTL that would be KK, next years first and maybe a defensive prospect or a center prospect as well. But with the draft in MTL next year trading a first is not in the cards without a very very high return.

Lol so you’re comparing Wayne Gretzky deal that happened in the 90’s to this one? Okie.

People like you that discount Eichel are in plain words are idiots. He is a generational talent. Top 5 centre in the league. Top 10 player in the league.

Back surgery ?? it's his neck

Agent said yesterday
He's back skating and is fine

He never needed surgery
Ploy to be traded

Which brings up another question

- Anderdog

Fine neck then--- ya the question is " is he a lunatic who is a liar/" yup seems like the exact type of guy I would trade all my top assets for.

I would love some of what you are smoking lol Eichel is Elite not a generational talent, he’ll never touch McJesus Crosby or Kane’s jogstraps, McJesus carried a tesm to the 2nd round before and the other 2 know how to win in important games with 3 cups each. Eichel is a good player but he’s definitely not an Icebreaker. What has Eichel done other than get injured every year and moan?…I’ll wait

My guess is any deal for Eichel will cost a team the equivalent of 3 first round quality picks (either as future picks or current prospects and two top 9 or top 4 skaters. Montreal could do that. But I do not see their fans liking it.

Several teams including Anahiem, LA, Columbus and Ottawa are likely able to do the deal a lot easier. I just can't figure out the value in the Minnesota offer. And, it appears the Rangers want Eichel but not if they have to give up any elite prospect/players.

This would be a dumb decision.

First it’s one of our fiercest rivals.

Second this would take us out of the running for Wright or Savoie next season and Bedard, Michikov or Fantilli. All 5 of these players will be better then the two players from Montreal.

Jesperi is very underwhelming and seems more like a middle six guy. Suzuki is good. I like him.

You don't consider Eichel a "very, very high return"?

What IS your definition of a "very, very high return"?

Anyone else seeing the Gomez or Recchi or maybe more recently Drouin trade repeating itself . Its hard to keep watching as my team keeps trading away the young prospects that are just starting to show their skills

How exactly does Montreal pull off a Jack Eichel trade? There is not one single player or combination of players from Montreal that would get it done. Stop promoting this non-sense. There is zero chance Eichel ends up in Montreal. Zero.

If Buffalo is truly looking for 4 to 5 1st round equivalent pieces then the only way most teams with salary cap can do that is by agreeing to take on Skinners full contract, which is worth 3 1st round picks IMO.

KK plus Drouin plus 1st plus one of those D prospects or conditional pick (based on playing time or points)for Eichel and Skinner would be close.

Rangers could make it work if they did their young Russian goalie plus Lafrenerie plus 1st. LA and Minn could work but don't seem willing to give up Byfield or Rossi respectively.

And now Buffalo owner says not within Eastern conference.

This may not happen until Jan or Feb

If the drafter of ... well, a disgusting pig, puts those two in a package for Eichel, I hope he is fired before the presser.

Suzuki will NOT be involved in any part of any deals with any team for anybody! C’mon Engels, let’s be real!

You're right cause no one wants him. Canadiens fans are mostly delusional but those that think that Suzuki even comes close to fetching you a player like Eichel are especially insane.

As a Sabres fan, I'd say Suzuki, Caufield, a prospect and a first or walk away. Too close to home for Jack unless we get a haul.....
- chugger38

Buffalo fan thinking they will get a strike you’re not even getting Suzuki and neither Caufield. It’s going to be Kotkaniemi+

Buffalo rarely wins any trade beside against the Flyers.

Well, for one I doubt you are a Sabres fan if you would take that deal. If you trade Eichel for Suzuki and Caufield, an unproven player with 10 games of experience, your franchise is doomed to continue its current record of failure. Under no circumstances should Buffalo even entertain calls from Bergevin. There is nothing there.

KK, sure. If they dump Suzuki, I’m gonna be pretty appalled. He may end up as good or at least nearly as good as Eichel, and he instantly built excellent chemistry with Caufield.

I’ve never been a huge Eichel fan, so I’m especially skeptical of him with the current medical situation surrounding him.

I’d offer KK, a first, a solid D prospect like Harris, Norlinder, Brook (their choice), and tell them to frigg off if that isn’t good enough, which it probably isn’t.
