You missed the part where the return for Reinhart was Mangi
I'm glad we didn't trade. MANGI, I think he could be alot better - cpltanto
Buffalo was all about the pick.Whose 2022 1st round pick is going to be better, ours or Floridas. All we had to do was add a decent prospect like Ruzicka, Pettersen or someone like that or heck, add one of our 2nd round picks & that would be pretty competitive with Florida's deal. |

I was thinking about this as well. The only reasoning I could think of is that Reinhart, Monahan, and Lindholm are all pretty soft players. Besides Tkachuk, who in the top 6 is hard to play against? Mange.....he has some grit but he is not punishing defenders on the forecheck.
I think Tre is trying to go all in for Eichel.

Bennett, 4 years 4.4 million.
Wonder if he will be able to stick as 2c on Florida. I would say no. |

Will be curious to see regular season, comfortable with a longer term contract Bennett version next year. Could be a steal for Florida. |

I was thinking after hearing Friedman say Calgary were still circling on Eichel & the fact we did basically nothing. Pitlick is a 1.2 price hitting version of Ryan.
So if we went for Eichel, say good bye to our 2022 1st round pick. Check for Buffalo.
Then we would need to balance some $$$ & Flames would suddenly need to move a centre. So I think the captain obvious is Monahan. Buffalo could easily flip Monahan for another 2022 1st + other assets, possibly another 2nd. Then we would probably have to add Valamaki. Check for Buffalo on that 3 1st's + another asset. Then I would think a kid like Dube would fit the Buffalo rebuild pretty good. Thats a huge package & I wouldnt have the balls to do that but Treliving may be under enough pressure to win to river boat gamble on Eichel. We have the cap to easily absorb this & have the extra $$$ to resign Gaudreau to probably $8.5-9.00 mill per. Im sure Gaudreau would be pretty excited to get a chance to play with Eichel. It can be done, eeeek should it be done is the question but we know Treliving, he's a gambler. |

The pooptiest part is nary a mention of the Flames in this (or really any) conversation about trades or signings! I was on the golf course all weekend and hoped one of the notifications from any of the sports feeds had a deal involving the Flames...

Lindholms a pretty soft player? He's 195 hits like a tank and is very strong on the puck. |

Cole Jordan was supposedly a good pick late round, I don't know much about this years draft class myself but this is where I heard it from. https://nhlentrydraft.com...ms-at-the-2021-nhl-draft/ - novak14
Its the challenge with the draft this year. Outside the top 10-20, most are relative unknowns.
What about a backup for Markstrom? Anyone see Bernier as a fit? |

I agree and what’s more surprising is the hype around lundell. Maybe not next year but at some point he will likely knock Bennett out of the 2C spot and Florida will be left with a very expensive 3rd line center |

As much as I don't think he will live up to the deal long term, I hope he does. If he doesn't, as you suggest, he's still cheaper than our 3C presently I worry more that he's a long term 3/4LW and that's when the contract becomes burdensome.

The structure of the deal is interesting:
Sam Bennett contract structure:
Year 1, $2.925M (includes $1M signing bonus)
Year 2, $3.425M
Year 3, $6.35M
Year 4, $5M |

Ufa Nick Ritlchie? - K-man25
Between Pitlick, Tkachuk, Lootch and Ritchie (Brett), I personally think we've got enough slow guys that can bang in the forward ranks. Wouldn't mind a guy that can clear some creases on the back end though, maybe take a run at Jake McCabe?
Invest in a little more speed up front, I wouldn't mind (outside of Eichel - lmao) seeing Tre reach out to Saad and see if the guy wants to play more than one season in one city... |
