Apparently Jones wanted to wear #6 but Stan isn’t ready to let anyone wear that number out of respect for Maatta. - DarthKane
That's well played. |

Unwarranted? How so? The stats have clearly exposed how negligent this trade was and how bad of a contract it is needed will hinder the progress of this team. Jones is clearly on the decline and you don’t trade that much for a guy who only had a couple of teams he was willing to sign with.
Bowman is getting most of the heat. - Diamondhands don't worry bowman won't be much longer imo. New information with the investigation and how upper management people knew what happen plus if hawks get off to horrible start wirtz's will have make a decision and should be fire anyone who still with organization that knew about.

If he did the nhl should heavily fine the hawks and strip them of picks. We all will know more when the dust settles on this case. |

I have a new blog focusing on this coming up. Stay tuned. - Theo Fox
Hey Theo, just wanna mention how nice of an in depth, cover all bases lead up to coverage of and post draft work you've done. Nicely done.
An internet bud of mine who follows the USHL as close as anyone also loves youth and midget hockey, watches all the 14-15-16 yr olds tournaments and gets to a few of them called me today to talk World Junior Summer Showcase and the draft. He's my guy for heads up on 16-17 yr olds coming into the USHL.
Asked him about Allan. Right away said nasty dude. Straight outa 1970. Thinks he's a nasty 16-18 minute shutdown guy if he makes the bigs. ..... Asked him do you take Buium, Morrow or Peart ahead of Allan? He said all 3. Likes Allan but maybe late rd 2 or rd 3....... Since they didn't have another pick until 62 maybe they didn't wanna chance not getting Allan.
Seems the direction the Hawks went is guys who fit the hard to play against high floor types figuring they have speed/skill that they like. |

Maybe you're onto something Scott. Stanbo knew this penalty was coming down so he beat the league to the punch.

Terrible all around if they knew.
Heads should roll.
And if it's TRUE the players knew and were taunting him then truly awful. I have no words. |

The $64,000 question for Monday is does Zadorov and which other RFA's get QO's.
Hope the fax machine is working. On 2nd thought it could be unplugged if and when Z's paperwork is submitted. |

Sure.....
I read this prospect guy named Steve Kournianos, The Draft Analyst. His board looks like no others, kinda like Wiz'. .....Was turned on to his draft day analysis in real time on his You Tube today and it's really good. Dude rattles off every team's prospect/depth list, gives context to these picks. Unless one is offended by F-bombs you'll find this guy fun and informative.... I'm on pick 7 but look forward to anything he has to say about the Hawks.

And I know we talked again about again about the wear and tear on the guys with all those extra playoff games, but this guy might have gotten the worst of it:
@BlackhawksDzone
Niklas Hjalmarsson blocked 1,605 shots during his 14-year NHL career.
That’s the equivalent of getting hit with a puck everyday straight for over 4 years.
#Blackhawks
@JFreshHockey
Hjalmarsson was in the 97th percentile or higher at preventing scoring chances against for 10. straight. seasons. What a legend
He's hanging them up today. - pdx2ord
The Hjalmarsson-Oduya combo was amazing on the PK. The top for of Keith, Seabrook, Hjalmarsson and Oduya will be hard to surpass in the foreseeable future.

I put no weight in that ludicrous legal crap. The guy was old enough to call the cops.
Also, McDumbnuts was in charge and there was no way he was going to let a scandal rock the boat he created. So, if the guy wants to sue someone he should go after the man who said no. |

First time in two days I can agree with 95% of your post! If not call the cops at least get a lawyer and let them decide "criminal or civil?"

Wow- I can't actually believe that I read that --talk of potentially people getting their undies in a twist because of wearing a former player's number... and considering how many have worn both Steve Larmer's and Doug Wilson's over the years .... if anyone actually does get upset, that seems a bit much really.
I have my doubts that anyone in that category are actually hockey fans, and probably if handed a hockey stick look at it funny and hold it like a broom ... ie too caught up in non-hockey stuff. - SC116
Personally, I don't care if Jones or any new player on the team wants to wear a certain number. If it's not retired, then it's fair game IMO.
Yet, there are many fans who find it more forbidden or sacrilege to do so. It may be irrational but a lot of being a fan of any team or sport is irrational.
Ironically, that's what can make sports so great sometimes. |

The comment about the ire towards Jones unwarranted is that it's not really his fault that Bowman gave up all that he did in the trade. That's fair to channel anger toward Bowman.
Sure, Jones signed the dotted line to the contract extension but he's neither the first nor the last pro athlete to want max dollars on a new contract.
Will the contract cripple the team long term? Perhaps but it's still early to say for certain as the roster and salary cap evolves constantly. |

Thanks and you're welcome, Rico.
The insight you shared on Allan is good stuff. Yesterday pdx2ord shared interview transcript from Allan's coach and (as an educator) I particularly liked how he described Allan's high character particularly his dedication to his academics.
I wasn't high on either Buium or Morrow, to be honest, but was hoping the Hawks would've nabbed Peart with their 2nd round pick. While I'm not upset they got Dach, he wasn't high on my list. Between Peart and Dach, I take Peart hands down.
On that note, I also wasn't that high on Boucher (at least as a 1st rounder, later rounds would've been fine) and am surprised the Senators picked him 10th overall. Between the draftees with bloodlines (Dach, Boucher, Helenius, Stillman) who were hopefuls to go in the first two rounds, Stillman was at the top of my list. |

It was a reactionary draft by the Hawks. It wasn't a maybe on the reach. Allen was projected as a 4th, maybe late 3rd round pick.
It might be the worst draft the Hawks have had under Bowman and Kelley.
The next GM is going to have one heel of a mess to clean up.
You sure complain a lot
