That is the one thing I don't like about Zadorov. - breadbag
Zadorov would be a good #5 if he had a couple of more brain cells. Actually, he would be an asset at #5 if he wasn’t so obtuse(Elbows and Andy Dufresne’s reference). |

As evidenced by statistics, results and eyeballs, the Hawks needed a drastic revamping of their Dmen. By replacing Keith, Boqvist and Zadorov (hopefully he won't get a QO tomorrow and walks) with Seth Jones and Caleb Jones, and adding a bevy of big, defensively-oriented Dmen to the organization, I think they are much better now and also for the future. Do we wish Stanbo didn't have to give up the two #1s, or pay top dollar and term to Seth? Of course. But apparently, that's what it took to get the deal done. Still definitely worth it. |

It also won't age well the fact that Seth Jones will be wearing jersey #4. There's still time to change the number but Jones is already under a microscope so this may add to what is arguably unwarranted ire towards him. - Theo Fox
Yes...I'm admittedly way too emotionally invested in The Core from our Cup years, but I'd like to think there'd be a grace period before someone else wears one of those numbers. 5 years (as long as they were collectively there)? Hopefully, Laz is right and while they won't retire all the numbers, there'll be some banner in the rafters with the names of the seven 3-Cup winners. |

Theo what needs to happen this offseason that is the number 1 priority for the hawks to have success this upcoming season, besides the defense improving drastically. What moves signings trades etc.. That one thing that give hawks fans hope that it will be a good season? |

And I know we talked again about again about the wear and tear on the guys with all those extra playoff games, but this guy might have gotten the worst of it:
@BlackhawksDzone
Niklas Hjalmarsson blocked 1,605 shots during his 14-year NHL career.
That’s the equivalent of getting hit with a puck everyday straight for over 4 years.
#Blackhawks
@JFreshHockey
Hjalmarsson was in the 97th percentile or higher at preventing scoring chances against for 10. straight. seasons. What a legend
He's hanging them up today. |

That’s a good idea to commemorate all of them without retiring so many numbers. |

Ranks Hammer 18th all-time.
Seabrook NHL #1 shot blocker since counted....1998 shots blocked.
A surprise to me. Duncan Keith 5th all-time. 1896 blocks.
I don't see Rod Langway there, so not sure what years these stats began....

Wow - OK - I stand corrected on who had it the worst. No wonder Seabs broke down everywhere, and Keith truly is a cyborg.

Tells us a lot about how great that team was that he was the 3rd best defenseman. And I'm not disrespecting him one bit, he was outstanding.

I could be wrong about this, but it was even more painful to block shots back in the day. I believe equipment has relieved some pain on some shots. |

Looked it up. Seems 1997 is when blocked shots were tracked by the NHL.

Wow- I can't actually believe that I read that --talk of potentially people getting their undies in a twist because of wearing a former player's number... and considering how many have worn both Steve Larmer's and Doug Wilson's over the years .... if anyone actually does get upset, that seems a bit much really.
I have my doubts that anyone in that category are actually hockey fans, and probably if handed a hockey stick look at it funny and hold it like a broom ... ie too caught up in non-hockey stuff. |

Add to the blocks that Seabrook was also the 6th highest D-man (18th overall) HIT leader over that same period (1997 to now). Ya, no wonder he broke down. Freakin' Warrior!!! |

And clutch as well, my favorite defenseman of that group, way underrated outside of Chicago. |

Unwarranted? How so? The stats have clearly exposed how negligent this trade was and how bad of a contract it is needed will hinder the progress of this team. Jones is clearly on the decline and you don’t trade that much for a guy who only had a couple of teams he was willing to sign with.
Bowman is getting most of the heat. |

Apparently Jones wanted to wear #6 but Stan isn’t ready to let anyone wear that number out of respect for Maatta. |
