Well at this point I’m fairly happy about Chuck’s moves. Unlike some, I thought this was the year he would have to do something. At least I’m not left disappointed. Some suggested a while back that the fans that wanted some very meaningful moves would be left disappointed….how wrong they were.
I like the additions, and honestly am not worked up by any of the departures. Some of those leaving simply never played very well last year. Although I agree it’s tough to move a #13 in the draft I also realize you can’t just keep kicking the can down the road. As Fletcher so eloquently suggested to bring back the same players and expect different results was not a plan…it would have been stupid and incompetent.
…..well done Chuck…and please don’t stop there.

It was a fun week for sure. 😆

One thing I can say with ABSOLUTE certainty concerning Risto:

If he drills Crosby, I mean lays him out flat with a legal but devastating bone-crushing hit, no one will be thinking or saying CF gave up too much for him 😂 (Malkin or Letang work just as well)

I’m sure there are. Lips of him getting destroyed. But there is one where OV took a run at him and got leveled. We all know that doesn’t happen often. Last time we had a hitter like this was Ronaldo. He was just small.

Does anyone think Fletcher will move on from G after this season with all this “change” talk from yesterday?

I believe they said 7 teams were interested with multiple of them offering 1 st rounders. But those were later first rounders. Glad he didn’t go to Boston wash Pitt Toronto you get it.
- Peter Richards

I would love to know if they were straight up 1st rounder for RR deals or whether salary was retained, or some other players involved. Just because there were 7 teams offering 1st rounders doesn't mean that was all of it.

The other is who were these teams? Boston has Mcavoy and Carlo on that side. They just signed Carlo.

The deal is good obviously for the cheaper cap hit, otherwise Jake was easily the more productive player.

Might depend on this season. If he does let the Johnny hockey talk begin and the reunion of the bc boys.

Yes but I agree with fletcher. This one will help both clubs more than if they kept said players. I like the elements cam will bring to this team.

None were bigger then the Flyers’ bid. Hence why they got him. You can spin it anyway you want. The fact is that Ristolainen is a desired commodity in this league and the Flyers had to pay that price to out bid several other GMs to get him here.

Now we will get to debate and watch it play out next year.

This team should be way more competitive this year.

No. G will sign another contract with the Flyers next year. He will take a discount. He wants to stay and he is a very useful player.

I hope both do really wel except against us.

I’ve met Jake before in person and seems like a great guy.

- Hextall271

Never met Ghost, but Jake is an incredibly nice guy from several short interactions I've had with him in the past. He took time out of his day to chit chat with me while signing some stuff for the kids.

Tampa, leafs, florida, Boston, Carolina, Washington, NYI, Pittsburgh are probably the 8 teams the Flyers have to pass and be better than to make the playoffs.

Where do you see the Flyers slotted in that group?

I hope this is the case. I’d love to see G stay here for his whole career.

Jake is a better offensive point producer for sure. Cam is better in the plus minus department (for what that means). Cam is better at scoring goals. They are very different players for sure. Almost opposite type of players. Everything from size to style of play.

They didn’t say but said multiple teams offered 1 st rounders. Also didn’t mention any of they other teams just that 7 were in contention.

I feel for the guy. He seemed to really like it here and is getting ripped away from some of his friends. I wish him luck on his journey. It is the way of professional sports.

Some people don’t look past points. Cam is probably the lesser player overall, but I’m hoping for a better fit. We really don’t have any goal scorers outside of JVR who scores them in his own way. Nice to have a gritty forward that knows how to get to the net.

Depends is the NHL going back to previous divisions? Ok according to your list that means the NHL is going back to the old format seeding by conference or is the NHL sticking with the top 4 teams in each division make the playoffs?

One skill of Atkinson’s that we really could use is his elite PKing. IF Hayes can get back to his 19-20 self, him and Atkinson will be a dynamic penalty killing duo.
