Don't normally comment on another team's blog.

But shout out to Karine for her writing and well articulated explanation of Mtl's poor decision to draft this kid.

meh, what he did definitely shouldn't be downplayed just because he performs well, but at the same time we should be giving him the opportunity to learn from this whole thing and evolve as a person. MTL might be one of the worst places to go through this kind of process though lol...

Don't get me wrong, I've made peace with the reality long ago. If that Coyotes draft pick was the next coming of McDavid, they sure as well wouldn't have made the same decision they did. Anyway, considering the fact this will be forgotten in a year and that in terms of skill we got him later than he might have went otherwise, I think it was a good pick by Bergevin. Addresses a positional need and probably the best player available.

Karine, don’t think for a minute I’m going to stop reading your blogs! You’re da best!

On the Habs character thing I feel it’s a great way to justify bad trades or unpopular ones. MB been pretty good trade wise but he’s made mistakes like all gms do!

If we go back in time, Maurice Richard had a running feud with Clarence Campbell (the league president), had a column in a Montreal paper (Montreal Matin?) and challenged Habs management when he saw fit! He would have been dealt in today’s Habs! And I won’t go into Guy Lafleur, Chris Chelios, Patrick Roy and PK Subban. They all had something that the Habs hate! Character!

It’s a funny speach to me to hear that the Habs are built on player character! What MB means is a players team philosophy not character!

In Montreal, no one can be bigger than the team! And when you deal with superstars you have to deal with super egos!

The Chelios trade was that moment for me. The one were I didn’t see the Habs the same way!

Now before any of you start freeking out… of the names above that have been dealt, the only player dealt where we got a superior return was in the Subban trade! The only issue is that return might not ever play again!

Anyone would like to see Mathieu Perreault for cheap on the 4th or 3rd line? Can play C or LW

Supposly he would like to be near MTL

I liked what he did when he was in ANA and first 4 seasons in WPG but his production really went down last 2 seasons was he injured?

I think he fell on the 3rd or 4th line. Didn’t look injured, I think he went on waiver since he had a 4m+ contract.

But wouldn’t be surprised he sign a 850k/1y contract if Habs are interested.

He missed 22 games in 2019-2020 due to upper body and concussion I think that may have slowed him down a bit. A bit small. Would have like Statsny for the right price

unless kk takes a major step forward, I'd prefer a legit top6 C.
so I'd prefer a legit top6 C.

too expensive to acquire imo
maybe Giroux could be available for less assets. PHI seem to be trading everyone.
only 1 y left at 8M. played wing the past seasons but can play C, excellent on faceoffs.

We had enough of washed up stars players. Giroux isn’t the player that used to shutdown Crosby in the playoffs. I am willing to sacrifice KK among other assets to get a young superstar that play center while averaging a PPG on a mediocre team.

oh me too, but Eichel will cost a lot more than kk while Giroux wouldn't cost much. imo.

That I know, but we finally have a good prospects pool so we can sacrifice a few pieces. Untouchables are Suzuki, Caufield, Guhle and Romanov…

Maybe KK, Drouin/Lekhonen, Primeau and a 1st?

I agree. Time to have a 1-2 punch

Toffoli-Eichel-Caufield
Hoffman(Drouin?)-Suzuki-Anderson

Wouldn’t that look good?

I think it’s going to cost a little more then that.
KK, Salary(Drouin/Byron), offensive prospect (Farrell/Tuch/Poehling), Norlinder, Harris or Strubble and a 1st/2nd.
