Being reported on some second tier Montreal media outlets. Supposedly Danault's buddy let it slip.

Yeah, you need a top offensive center. I was surprised that they didn’t take Eklund. Although Yzerman may be thinking that Eklund will be a LW due to his defensive deficiencies and lack of size.

Seems to me that Clarke is going to be better than Edvinsson. I get the LD RD thing. But teams should be going with the best available in the top 10. Wallstedt has more upside than Cossa. Stevie always seems to make the right move so what do I know.

Personally i would have picked Clarke over Edvinsson. They could have just traded Hronek for a LD if Clarke forced Hronek down the RD lineup. That was my plan anyways.

By the time of the draft, there were plenty that had Cossa going before Wallstedt. Mock draft all had Wallstedt going to the Wings and fans all seemed to think Wallstedt would go before Cossa but i think in the eyes of scouts it was much much closer. Obviously Yzerman and the scouting staff liked Cossa more.

That seems like a good pick. Hopefully this is Brayden Point 2.0

with a bit of space down low, Savage is a flashy, occasionally dynamic offensive creator. In transition, he manipulates defenders with hands and feet that transmit different information, eye deception, and nearly unmatched pace. Slip and hook passes, even when moving, and a desire to hunt the high-danger option makes him a set-up threat. And, he’s a threat from mid-range with his mechanically-sound wrister shot. -EliteProspects 2021 NHL Draft Guide

Cossa has a lot going for him. I have some bias against 6’6” and above goalies (Dubnyk, Bishop) due to mobility and technique issues. Cossa was on an elite team and got easy minutes so I’ll be interested to see how he fares under pressure.

Wallstedt has excelled against older players in Sweden. Supposedly, he has phenomenal footwork and excellent technique. Scouts say he goes into the butterfly too soon. NHL players will just wait him out if he doesn’t fix that.

It will be interesting to see how they both develop.

Just an opinion from my side. Using rankings this year as a template is pretty futile. A lot of players never even got the chance to play. We'll see in a few years on how these picks turn out, but calling them busts from the get go is foolish. I like the Edvinsson pick, but wish we did take a center with the second 1st. That said, look when Raty ended up getting drafted. GMs don't care about outside rankings, they like their players.

Let's hope for the best. I look forward to see some of these prospects.

Yeah should be interesting to see. Cossa doesn't lack confidence that's for sure saying he expects to be the best goalie taken in this draft.

I like the Liam Dower-Nilsson pick too. Playmaking center that can thread passes through a couple of defenders. hopefully one of Savage or Nilsson can make it to the NHL.

Word is out that Danault is signing with Detroit on Wednesday.

Gawd I hope not. He's going to be overpaid and I hope Stevie isn't the one to do it.

Now that the dust has settled I think Stevie addressed almost every position for the pipeline. Probably about all you can do compared to what's happened world wide the last 18 months. I rate it B+

There is no 1C on the roster or anywhere in the organization. Larkin is a 2C. Veleno will be lucky to have an NHL job. The rest are meh. Big problem.

I love the passion from all of you but the arm chair quarterback negativity is a bit ridiculous. Trust in Yzie!!!
