Seattle should be pretty bad. Same with Zona. Gonna be another 2015 race to a bottom.

Sell it to Cozens, Dahlin that is one more bad year and we have cupboards stocked already. Hit 2022-23 season loaded with players and talent on the team (power, Quinn, paterka, and next years pick)

- Fattony1187

Arizona, Anaheim, New Jersey, Buffalo, C-Bus, Detroit, and maybe Vancouver are all going to be bad.

I'm guessing buffalo next year for power.

Pretty sure only one 1OA hasnt started in the nhl in recent memory.

Why not get paid?

Or finish the season with buffalo after the NCAA tournament ends? Not sure how the timeline matches up given Michigan will be the last team standing.

I'm sure he would like to burn a year on his entrance contract.

- Boss34

He doesn't need to play a full year to burn 1 year, right?
Only several games...if he has time to get those games in after his college season he accomplished both.

I agree 100%

Even with Eichel they’re an aging team that was the lowest place team to make the playoffs and Price was a stud in the playoffs. Plus they played in a much weaker Canadian division and not their actual division.

Give me Suzuki and JK plus their first the next two years and I will take it.

Eichel with Caufield will be super fun to watch but they’re a one line team. Sort of what Eichel played with the majority of his time here.

Sabres get a very good young center, a good young 3rd line center, and two more tickets to two very skilled drafts in 2022 and 2023…

- Stripes77

The trick would be to make sure it’s not protected. But I expect them to be.

Next years 2 1st rnd picks. Yes Florida should be good but a lot of things can happen in a season to derail that.

They drafted for skill. They usually don’t. The Power pick was a given. Hopefully we get 2-3 more of these (plus Power) kids developed from this draft and they finally do something right.

If they’re getting their next two firsts I’m not sure how they could protect them. Buffalo wouldn’t want to wait until 2024 to make a pick from an Eichel trade.

I’m with you on this

My only concern is you’re stuck with a long contract on a player you expect to make the jump to star player but it’s risky because he hasn’t yet. A combination of that he clearly been coaching but it’s still a risk.

7 year $7 million per and let’s see what happens.

- Stripes77

That's fair, dahlin really hasnt lived up to his hype.

I'm glad kagm and donnie got a first hand look at dahlin last season. Hopefully they have a good guage of his present and future success.

Signing any 21 year old comes with risks. Especially long term.

Even if Florida just misses out on the playoffs it’s a mid first pick (assuming they don’t win the lottery).

Three picks in the first 15 next year would be massive.

He certainly played better under Donnie.

Hopefully with the pace and conditioning of a Granato lead team and the ability to use their strengths will help these kids stay on the right developmental course.

Sell them on 1 more year, than continue with the 2 year tank plan.

Sabres should have hung around the bottom in 2016 when Matthew's/ laine/ matt tkachuk were available

If anyone has experience in tanking, it's the buffalo Sabres.

That's the question, mitts came in a burned a year of his entrance contract. But, his college team wasn't destined for a championship game.

Or maybe it was. Either way , I'm sure the trade deadline is going to free up a few spots for the younger guys to finish the season in buffalo.

Sorry about the lack of a time line. Just spitballing.

Because one player doesnt make a difference in Hockey. Apparently, this organization, and this forum, hasnt realized that yet.

Interesting take.

In year 2 (14 months from now), possible players who could join the big club
- Quinn
- Power
- Peterka
- Samuelsson
- Bryson
- UPL

In addition to Wright/Savoie/Lambert if they are lucky enough to get a top 3 pick

That likely wont result in an automatic Playoff position...but it goes a long, long way towards building a fun atmosphere and confidence the future is coming fast.

If Eichel returns due to the lack of sufficient offers then I think they'll be better than what most expect. I'm not ruling out his return a-tall

Yes it would, keep infusing talent. Still think Adams has a chance to maximize his cap space and add either picks or young players to the team this offseason if done right.

Interested?

The package coming out of Montreal, currently, seems huge. Like, very big.

random thoughts..I might be in the minority, but the more i learn about Brad Lambert, the more i think he will be as good as Wright in next years draft. As a 17 year old he has been playing against men in Finland's Liiga. This to me, along with his bloodlines has me intrigued. I don't see this as a McDavid/Eichel situation either, because i just dont think the talent gap is as large as it was with Connor and Jack. It will be interesting to see how the upcoming seasons play out for these two draft hopefuls. Interesting to read the blog by Montreal and what they offer for Jack, as what she is proposing is underwhelming. I want nothing to do with Kotkaniemi. he is nothing more than a third liner. If Caufield and Suzuki arent the starting pieces, this is dead on arrival, especially trading him within our division. I want to see Eichel buried somewhere out west. As I stated yesterday, not a doubt in my mind most of Eichel's injury concerns are all a ploy by him and his agent to get a ticket out of Buffalo.

Fixed it…

Although Gerbe is going to banging the Caufield drum! Gerbe loves him some Caufield! I don’t see any way Caufield is put into a deal…

I don’t get it… you want a top 6-ish center in the world… your best prospects are NOT off limits. Sorry.

I don’t need Koetenami in the deal. I’m not a huge fan

Suzuki and Romanov would be two great young players to have.

I’m fine with that, if you think we will have enough center depth without him..

Suzi… Romanov… ‘22 first unprotected (which I doubt will happen)… ‘23 second, because in division. Any cap dump that’s needed

Enough? Not enough?

I rather see suzi and Caufield as the starting pieces, I just don’t see it happening…
