It’s take a team to win. A well built team

McDavid-1 playoff round win

Matthews-0 playoff round wins

We had Eichel and Dahlin with elite skill

Reinhart with skill

The rest of their drafting has been garbage. Also doesn’t help when the coaching sucks.

Seems like a lack of brother ship.
Lack of team first with this core.

Hopefully the new core cares about each other.

Yeah, they really need to stop following the early 2000’s Panthers model. It only leads to apathetic fans (the anger will fade into it) and sparsely crowded arenas.
- Ratsreign

Honestly, glad to see you guys trending up. I figured the team was under no threat of relocating because of the corporate support, but regardless, must be tough seeing Tampa Bay's success in comparison. Buffalo fans know a thing or two about geographic rivals being more successful

I am a older Buffalo fan, everyone has the right to there opinions, but might as well hop on the train for a new beginning cause that's what we have and see if Adams and company can change the direction.
- Buff36

Absolutely.
I enjoy different opinions.

Or, just maybe, they take less because they're taxed less, AND they're winners, which is my whole (frank)ing point.

Sabres invested $12m in 2 highly skilled players in addition to Jack, Sam, Risto, etc....31st place finish.
Culture drives winning...skills drive paycheck.

They immediately gave Jack the world, but bridge-dealed Sam twice (?). That probably has a lot to do with him wanting out.
- Ratsreign

It was the last 2 seasons when they didn't commit to him long term...then, word leaked they wanted to resign Hall and trade Sam before FA.

Hall left, and Sam said FU
(Remind anyone of Briere / Drury?)

I can't blame Sam at all, I would have done the same.

Panthers about to see Sam take care of himself next offseason as he "goes home", or close to it.

They finally have an owner willing to spend the money and actually build a winning organization. Never had one since og owner bailed out so he could buy the Dolphins.

Speed also drives winning.

We got faster today. Addition by subtraction.

Tampa certainly is very skilled and fast.

Hope they build a "team"

We're you really paying the right wing 7+ million after signing lw skimmer to 9 million and center eichel to 10 million?

26 million for these 3. They kinda chose skimmer over sam with the big deal.

Sam's ability to play center arrived after the bridge deals.

I understand it to a point. People are trying to talk themselves into a couple late firsts and a meh prospect and being happy with it.

I steadfastly refuse to do that, and when that happens I will find another team to root for until(if) the Sabres ever get their heads out of their asses.

- Wetbandit1

Some posters will say
Bye, Bye.

I prefer to say;
Sorry man, I feel your pain...they make it very difficult to remain a fan of the club. Pick a second team to enjoy..it has made it tolerable, but always remain loyal to your team.

I’ve been kinda thinking that since trade was rumored, that he’d only sign for a year. But we’ll see what Zito offers him, a new team showing long term commitment to him might change his mind. Who knows, he might love it in FL.

"It's very exciting, to say the least," Reinhart said. "I've actually been fortunate enough to play with guys already on the roster. I've been in contact with a bunch of guys already, coaches, I'm absolutely thrilled and motivated to come to a group that's hungry, trying to make it to the next step. They have, in my mind, the most motivated player coming into an organization like that that's trying to make that next step and win some meaningful games.
"I'm thrilled about having that opportunity with a group that is expecting to win on any given night. I'm very happy to be able to showcase what I can do in some meaningful games and contribute in any way that I can."

We’ll see....

Outside of Tampa, if I were a young player now, I'd be seeking the Panthers.
You guys have a great team that is really fun to watch!
That series in the 1st round was fantastic..while Tampa won, I thought Florida could have won it no doubt...1st game was epic.

Yeah, it’s been forever, but again a new GM (and another new coach) means another restart. It is what is. Idk, seems like Adams may be heading the right way.

Good for him, don't exactly like some of the stuff in that little article. But Sabres did it to themselves.

The Pats are known for taking problem players, and it didn't seem to affect them winning at all.

Belichick being the biggest bumhole of all; guys didn't flock there to play for each other, they did it for the rings.

Eichel isn't the problem, rampant mismanagement is.

Crosby is allegedly a massive bumhole, yet we don't hear a (frank)ing peep, because he's got 3 Cups.

Before the Kelly era Bills got good, they were called the "Bickering Bills".

Winning solves everything.

- Wetbandit1

That's it right there, bandit.

Players, even problem players, know that when they go to New England, for the most part they better be on their best behavior and buy in or Bill is cutting your @ss. That franchise has earned that respect. We've got a looooonnnngg way to go.

I got to go to game1, it was nuts. It was great game (until FL pissed it away, lol). Both teams were flying. FL definitely could’ve taken the series, Vasi was the main reason TB got past them.

Nobody knows that, and everyone knows the value will not match Eichel but the sum could make us a better overall team.

Really? It would be the first time in 20 years that it would happen.

Well, hiring and firing a coach and a GM every 2 years certainly didn't help, nor did constantly trading for and then trading away players in their prime every 2 years.

It kills me, but I can't support this anymore. This is supposed to be fun. Everyone has their breaking point, and I've met mine, provided they don't get a legit 1C in return, and I'm not holding my breath. I want nothing more than to be wrong about it, and I will make "I was wrong" as my location if it does happen.

I think the only reason I stayed a Bills fan was because they never had a superstar during the drought, so I never expected much. But you absolutely can not trade a superstar like Eichel for spare parts, you just can't do it. You might get lucky like Boston did when they got rid of Thornton and Seguin, but they're the exception that proves the rule.
