Tampa Lightning players take less money, young players fall in line so that they can fit more quality players in. Play for each other.
2 Cups

- IonSabres

Or, just maybe, they take less because they're taxed less, AND they're winners, which is my whole (frank)ing point.

How about this hyperbole?

Or maybe you are just underrating him.

Jack's more online with Risto return given his 5 years left on contract...and playing the C position at an Elite level.
Should be strong...especially when the Sabres Private Eye releases pictures of Jack working out, skating, playing chicken fights in the pool...

You! You there! You better love to play for this team, or or or...ELSE!

(frank) that crap.

You get players that want to play here and FOR EACH OTHER, like we saw at the end of the year last year. They either buy in, or bye bye.

Not attacking you, but this franchise has to do it the old fashioned way and that's build w the draft and hopefully a Jack trade sets us up with guys who buy in.

- Powerslave

The Kool-Aid. No one wants to lose. If you work for a company and your employer continues to make bad move after bad move that costs you from succeeding while you continue you to put up great numbers, you think you are going to want to work for that company that continues to neglect and disrespect you?? No. You're going to want to go to the competitor that has a better idea of how to successfully run the business.

Love the game is great and all but professional sports are a RESULT oriented business.

Hockey is not like basketball where you can have 3 superstars and win a cup. It's not like football where you have a star QB and you can win games. You need to have a balanced team. Stars and role players who can contribute. This isn't 1995 anymore where the 4th line is grinders who can't score.

This franchise values guys like Okpso, Girgensons, Bogosian, Sobotka... They overpay them and give them too many years on their deals and try and play them with skilled forwards. Look at the Hurricanes, look at the Avs... These teams realize you need seed and skill on ALL 4 lines... They continue to win and win in a fun way...

Center depth

Cozens (My gut says he'll be a solid #2 center)
Middlestat (Probably a 2nd line/3rd line hybrid player. If he continues on from his play last year, he could be a solid 2nd line winger.

That's it! They've got no other center prospects. No one even close to top six level... Quinn over Rossi or Perfetti or Jarvis is obviously not looking great so far.. But I'm willing to be patient with him. But that's passing on 3 centers who look promising all ready. That's not even mentioning Zary and Lundell...

Point I'm trying to make here is Adams has been on the job for 2 years and he knew Reinhart and Eichel wanted out if they sucked this year. Eichel played his entire short season hurt and they were coached by a buffoon half the year.

He did not draft a center until rounds 6 and 7 in the last two drafts. If he doesn't get at least an elite center prospect in the Eichel trade... We could be looking at historic level of poor center depth.

Saw this quote from Reinhart posted earlier,
"It was a tough spot to be in," Reinhart said. "For me, I feel I've been there a long time. I've truly given it everything I could have. For whatever reason, my contract situation has led to this point. I'd always been prepared to sign long term, but the reality of the situation kind of led to this, where there were some decisions that had to be made.”

This is the rest of his quote from the nhl.com article,
β€œSo it was a tough spot to be in for a city that has given me so much over six, seven, however many years it has been. I truly feel like I had been committed and done everything that was asked, and really unfortunate that it didn't work out the way anyone wanted or envisioned, but really looking forward to a fresh start down in Florida."

You guys got a good Hockey player, should have been signed long term a couple years ago. But it's done time to flip the script.

The Pats are known for taking problem players, and it didn't seem to affect them winning at all.

Belichick being the biggest bumhole of all; guys didn't flock there to play for each other, they did it for the rings.

Eichel isn't the problem, rampant mismanagement is.

Crosby is allegedly a massive bumhole, yet we don't hear a (frank)ing peep, because he's got 3 Cups.

Before the Kelly era Bills got good, they were called the "Bickering Bills".

Winning solves everything.

They immediately gave Jack the world, but bridge-dealed Sam twice (?). That probably has a lot to do with him wanting out.

Yes. I understand the situation.

How much worse can we really be?

4 out 8 years dead last place.

Still supporting the team

It's like the horrible stretch we've endured is permeating these (Sabres Fans) existence.
My cousin will only focus on the past failures and how things will never get better. On and On infinitum. Just good advice to Look Forward rather than looking backward, We've all already lived/endured/suffered through the very things that are continuously brought up.

I love hockey, nothing the Sabres do will effect my love of enjoying this sport.

Of course we all want our time to have success and be at least entertaining to watch and I truly believe we will be much more entertaining to watch, this very season.

Sabres Fans that have Hope, aren't delusional, they are fans. Just because you are a fan of the Sabres doesn't mean you agree with all their decisions.

I can't believe this simple concept has to be written........The Very same things were being said about the Buffalo Bills for a decade! Literally, that they will Never be good, That they will never make smart decisions. Well......They eventually got good and make smart decisions.

I was all in on Josh Allen on Draft Night........
I was all in on Dylan Cozens on Draft Night......
I was excited about Gregorenko ugh......

Just my view, but if Covid and all the other horrible events that effect our lives, Sports or Movies or Famous Bands, should bring you entertainment, if they don't then why participate in such a painful and hopeless existence?

I really like this kid.....

I understand it to a point. People are trying to talk themselves into a couple late firsts and a meh prospect and being happy with it.

I steadfastly refuse to do that, and when that happens I will find another team to root for until(if) the Sabres ever get their heads out of their asses.

Keep drafting skill and then add the sandpaper and grit when you have the skill. Follow the Tampa model.

The return for Eichel will be dogpoop. It's impossible to get full value for a superstar

Well, hiring and firing a coach and a GM every 2 years certainly didn't help, nor did constantly trading for and then trading away players in their prime every 2 years.

Nobody knows that, and everyone knows the value will not match Eichel but the sum could make us a better overall team.

Older Buffalo fans have a legitimate reason to be negative.
How long, how many years was it before the Bills finally broke through and earned a playoff spot?
How many years has it now been that the Sabres have not made an appearance in the playoffs?

What seems like neverending futility and incompetence will certainly turn a person sour and negative.
I've been blessed for 54 years here on this earth but my "sports life" has been an absolute nightmare between the Bills - Sabres and Indians.

Long winded way of saying that I certainly understand the negativity of some fans/posters here.

Corey Pronman grades the Sabres draft class an A

We had Eichel and Dahlin with elite skill

Reinhart with skill

The rest of their drafting has been garbage. Also doesn’t help when the coaching sucks.

I am a older Buffalo fan, everyone has the right to there opinions, but might as well hop on the train for a new beginning cause that's what we have and see if Adams and company can change the direction.

Yeah, they really need to stop following the early 2000’s Panthers model. It only leads to apathetic fans (the anger will fade into it) and sparsely crowded arenas.
