I hope they maximize a little of that Cap space and take on a contract or 2 and get some picks or some more young players, bring me Cal Foote from TB for say taking Johnson contract.

Good post, not sure about them being able pry Foote away, but I like the concept!
Go Sabres!!!

It certainly has been an interesting couple days, with
-getting far more for Risto than anyone realistically thought
-getting far less for Rhino than anyone anticipated
-receiving virtually all futures, sans Hagg on the 3rd pair
-not moving Jack, yet?

Now at $43m before FA and RFA signings and includes Jack's $10m...begs further questions and intrigue:
-do they employ an internal budget on the Cap...$70-ish as was rumored last offseason
-who do they sign in FA...who would want to play here of significance
-does Jack get moved...seems to me that if they don't move him by early FA period (starts Wed) then other teams will have moved on to build their team locked in their Cap
-do they lockup Dahlin and Joker long term, or bridge
-what does Ullmark sign for, IF he resigns here

If they could be this interesting with their on-ice play, lol.

He would be a good partner for Dahlin for the next 8yrs. But you are probably right.

It really seems to me (not like this is a new thought by any means) that this org is done with Eichel. I was struck by the comment from a poster earlier who mentioned how selfish his attitude is. Notorious doucheball.

I am encouraged by what I have seen in this draft, it seems made some really solid picks in rounds 2-4. I like this big guy from the Q, seems like he could develop into a nice player if all goes well.

Key word being IF.

If Adams doesn't move Jack, would he have the balls to and should he remove the C from his jersey

That's the bad thing about the Hockey Draft these kids are so young after the first 4 or 5 picks you hope they keep developing and turn into what you hope they should be.

If only they started this in 2011
- c1067

They did and Tim Murray traded away a bunch of picks that the sabres accumulated and made bad trades.

I just commented this same thing on the Ek's post about traction. I think that would win him big points with fans if he had the stones to do that.

You are certainly correct in that. Call me a glass half full guy but I have hope that they will take the time to nurture (for lack of a better word) these guys correctly and even if they only turn into grinders and bangers, those guys help you win games ultimately.

Lot of if's I concede, but at least we took some guys with skill!

Agreed.

They need to build a culture and it sounds like they have a plan to do just that (the sound bite from Josh Bloom today, plus what Adams has said about wanting players who want to be here).

People can support it or not. Me? I have no choice but to support it, as I will not ever root for another team. Doesn't mean I will like everything they do.

Horsepoop, it's his (frank)ing job to get players to want to play here

This. I actually saw a Sens fan on Twitter replying to Garrioch that the Sabres should have held onto GMTM for longer since he made "some really good trades." Have no fear, I let him know what most of us would say.

Ya bringing in Fasching, Lehner and Bogosian really went well. Even Kane didn't get much in return.

No he won't.. it would decrease his value and have more question marks.

But he's gone so it won't matter

He is still a sabres player as we speak.

I think jack and the organization pretend they didn't have any differences this offseason or ever.

Benefits both sides.

0% chance they pull his captaincy unless he commits a crime. 👊

He could have deflected, he could have not answered.

If he is gone like Gerbe says he is gone then he doesn't need to say it.

You! You there! You better love to play for this team, or or or...ELSE!

(frank) that crap.

You get players that want to play here and FOR EACH OTHER, like we saw at the end of the year last year. They either buy in, or bye bye.

Not attacking you, but this franchise has to do it the old fashioned way and that's build w the draft and hopefully a Jack trade sets us up with guys who buy in.

No one to start.
But your question does reinforce how weak the roster is.
