Sabres did significantly better on the return for Reinhart than the Rangers did for an equally impactful forward in Buchnevich.

Ultimately both should have gone for way more than Jones and Ristolainen. I still don't get it.

- Stripes77

The only thing I can think of:

Risto has been devalued in your opinion
Sam has been over valued in your opinion.

Not trying to take a shot at you, we all are Sabres fans and see different things in different players.

1. Reinhart is a better hockey player than Ristolainen

2. As shown by the Seth Jones deal and the Pavel Buchnevich deal, one can see how the market values RHDs and one year UFA forwards. The RHDs are worth way more.

3. If Reinhart is a one year rental, it's fantastic value for him. If he signs, it's a little more disappointing.

4. Sabres are likely much higher on this goalie prospect than what his draft stock insinuates.

Love the pick of Josh Bloom by the Buffalo Sabres at 95. Honestly believe he would have been a surefire Top 50 pick had the OHL played. Highly intelligent, playmaking winger with size and speed. Can dictate pace. As he gets stronger and more confident, look out! #NHLDraft

Is it possible that there is a trade out there for Eichel that is waiting until after the draft since we are past any picks that would be included this year and the two (or more) teams can focus on the draft instead of announcing the trade now?

Devon Levi will surprise many in my opinion. I live in Boston, he plays for Northeastern which is now one of the better programs in Hockey East. Their season was derailed by COVID last year, which is why Levi really only played for Team Canada. He will be the starter for a quality NCAA program this coming season.

Ristolainen is closer to captain than being traded.

Or he’s lasting until the deadline

Or he’s signing an extension

Even without Jack. I still would try. He wants to get paid. If he wanted to take a pay cut. He would’ve resigned with the avs

And that’s pretty sad to hear.

Draft so far:

Goalies: 0
RHD: 0
Centers: 0
LHD: 1
LW: 3
RW: 3

Lack of centers is baffling. It’s not like we’re trading away 2 centers at least…….

On the first-round pick in the Sam Reinhart trade, there is lottery protection. If the pick ends up top 10 next year, the first-rounder moves to 2023 instead.

Awesome, so sam for a guy that won't play in the nhl for 4 or 5 years.

That's sad as a Sabres fan.

Imagine the other offers, that we chose the offer with in the division.

Geesh...

Glad he had a very strong goal scoring year. Or your looking at a 3rd possibly?

IMO its still a good plan. Get to the floor and lead the team w experience. Overpay him in the short term to be the man and take the C.

"Olivier Nadeau is a player that every NHL team would love to have on their roster. Although not high on draft boards, he can be a special player who excels at everything on the ice but is not elite at any one thing. What’s noticeable when he plays is that he can do so much without doing much of anything. He has everything needed to be a top-tier player in the NHL."

The Sabres have gotten him

Oreilly
Hall
Kane
Okposo - he flopped obviously
Skinner - Good with Eichel bad away

And how many more players to help him and all have sucked and most trades away

They want to give cozens the C

But I get your point and don’t disagree

Too early I think. Would be nice to allow Cousins to focus on just playing and getting better.

Who says it's a late pick? In that division, Florida may not make the playoffs.

Seriously which guy ( sam or risto) got the better return.

Rfa / ufa very similar in this situation, except sam could still extend in florida. If he enjoys the weather.

Like I said, I'm sorry for you that sam is gone for basically nothing. Just prospects.
