Seriously? Most post preceding this one were positive. You just wanted to get out in front by complaining about people complaining.

Stan is on borrowed time, the team has been a pretty consistent bottom feeder for a few years now. Progress this year is mandatory.

Hi, Wolfie.

Are you complaining again about people complaining about people complaining?

No one said this move puts them in cup contention. There is still a lot of work to be done and a lot development to be had. People who make the point this assures them being bottom feeders for the next decade do NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT.

You still have huge potential with the top 6...you have solid young developing middle-bottom six forwards with Hagel, Kurashev, and Suter....The D is still a work in progress but a lot of young players coming up through the system. As I've said before...we shall see.

It looks like they're giving Hjalmarsson's #4 to Seth Jones

More moves are exactly what people should be concerned about. Bowman's about to get pantsed again.

6M is going to go quick once the RFAs are signed and moved onto the roster and the AHL placeholders dropped.

- Elbows15

and 2 of 3...De Haan, Connolly ,and Strome will probably not be on the roster as well.

Again, this is a move that wreaks of a GM that doesn't know what he is doing. The more I think about it the more I hate it.

Number 1-Is Jones good? Yes, I think he is. Does he make the Hawks better? Yes, I think he does. Would any team be happy to have him? yes.

This a "final touches" move. This is the type of move you make to GO FOR THE CUP. You trade a poopload of high picks and overpay for a guy when you believe THAT guy is the final piece. If you are winning Cups those picks don't matter as much.

But alas, this team may still have another year or two of rebuilding "progress" and part of struggling is having access to higher picks, which Bowman has now given away.

It's also not about grabbing another first. Who gives a poop if he works out a deal with Tampa Bay to get a first. We want OUR firsts because the ONE piece of candy for having a bad season is you get to grab a blue chip prospect. I had no problem giving away this years #1 and even AB. But another 2 and another first? That is tracking to potentially giving away 3 top 10 level picks for Jones, who he then overpaid.

I get it Jones is a pending UFA next year he holds some cards, but that also means he doesn't have QUITE THE value as he would if there was more control over him. The package the Hawks gave up would make sense if Jones was in his 3rd year of a 7 year deal at 7.5. But of course Bowman doesn't see that. The same man who traded assets for Weise and Fleishman and handed TWO number 2s out for a Civil War soldier is alive and well in Chicago.

Stan should have gone after Spencer Knight last year, there’s your franchise goalie.

As usual, enjoying the commenting here. So many folks who have knowledge outside the NHL Blackhawks, which I am largely limited to.
That being said, I think the Blackhawk braintrust sees the team as closer to being playoff competitive than many commenting here.
I hope the Blackhawks are right!

I am fine with that. The less he does I think the better I like it. When is the next overpay. Other, savvy GMs have to be licking their chops when the red phone rings and Caller ID is from West Madison.

Another elephant in the room is Toews. Will he return and if he does will he be the guy we are used to. No Toews and this team is markedly weaker. A Toews, then the forward group is interesting.

They're not trying to be Ottawa or Phoenix. If you're a good team you will always be fighting the cap. "Those other players will have to be good to get paid."

Ottawa will be better as soon as next season.

Yes, that ‘Q’ guy has lost touch, he’s just a bumbling old man who is past his prime. Plus, he doesn’t like young players and only plays his favorites. I’m sure glad the Hawks have a proven winner in Colliton! (Red font)

In a trade, not the draft. They’re stuck with Bob for 5 more years at $10 M, and that’s a lot to pay him to be a backup to Knight.
