So..no forgiveness for 17 year olds that mistakes??

Guess I shoulda shot my two boys..

- pete26

What has he done to earn forgiveness?

Make a few PR announcements carefully crafted by his agent and PR team after news broke a few weeks ago to mitigate damage to his career and potential earnings?

I don't believe in burying someone for making mistakes, but I also believe they need to show true remorse and demonstrate changes in their life though actual actions.

So what has he done to show that?

Pete...it's not a mistake it's a criminal offense. I'm sorry but I think he doesn't deserve the fairy tale life of a hockey player right now, he needs to face the consequences of his acts and then perhaps he'll deserve a second chance.

Great blog as usual, however I strongly disagree with your view of our pick. Maybe like you said it’s because your a women. I tend to like to believe people can change and mature given the situations life presents you. The Kid was 17 when this all went down. I myself am a proud father of two absolutely gorgeous girls who I’d be willing to give my life for in a split second if necessary. With this in mind we must consider the fact that the girl involved also must be responsible for her actions. I’m sure she was just fine with having a future NHLER having her nude pics.By no means is it right or do I support such behaviour however we must consider this. Also as far as sending the pictures to multiple people and posting it online this is wrong, but these are teenagers. and teenagers do stupid things. I look forward to watching Logan Represent Montreal.

They must really like him as a hockey player. They would not bother otherwise.
- deadpoulet

yup, but to bring him in this market you just HAVE to like him as a person as well... even a fourth-line guy can be recognized while doing his groceries, this ain't Tampa Bay lol

As a hockey player or any sports athlete you have to be very careful and think about what your doing and saying. Your in the spotlight and in most sports there are puck bunnies groupies or whatever else you call these people. They want to be able to say I was with him. What he did was fine between two people. But to show his conquest amongst his friends is disgusting. Hope he learns from this and never does it again. If he does it again then he deserves to be in jail.

I think the main issue here is that the events happened rather recently, and it feels we're almost congratulating him by drafting him. this isn't the way I see it necessarily, as I don't have any personal knowledge about anything and am against cancel culture in general, but still you gotta wonder what the (frank) Timmins and Bergevin were thinking by bringing this sort of situation in MTL...
- Pat1993

This is what I’m saying. Why draft him? He may prove to be remorseful and truly changed sometime in the future and deserving of another chance but character rarely changes. Why do it?

Wasn't he tried and judged for it already?

I mean, it a was stupid, STUPID thing to do and he deserves to be ashamed of it.

It's up to him to show he's learned from it now.

The kind that hurts your brand. If the other stuff doesn't bother him, Geoff Molson should at least be worried about this kind of move alienating fans.

Money talks.

This is the taking sexual pics and distributing them equivalent of "he should have kept his head up" when a player receives a hit to the head.... Problem is, we're not talking about a game here, we're talking about a person's life and you don't know the woman in question, you are making a ton of assumption... I can tell you that most women would be devastated if pics of them doing that were made public. Unless of course they make their living in the porn industry but that's another story

well, he did pay some fines already. Not being draft is not part of his sentence. That's the mob talking.

I think he received a fine in Sweden but looks like he is facing proceedings here according to some reports. Hard to know exactly what's going on right now as the story is now being told and retold and modified...

It just send the wrong message... Even Bergevin said: he was only 17 when he did that and well, yeah that wasn't so long ago.

Yeah, it was the Coyotes, and the guy was Mitchell Miller

You have to be (frank)ing out of touch and have absolutely no idea how the world is today to pick Logan Mailloux at this point and think this is going to fly eventually. They really have no idea what they got themselves into.

I think the Habs need new people without poops for brains at the helm honestly.

- stinger67

What Mailloux did and what Miller did are completely different stuff though.

Not minimizing what Mailloux did, but jesus christ he didn't torture a handicapped child for years.

Because he's a 17 year old 6'1 215 pound right shot defenseman that was projected to be top 10 or 15 and you got him at 31

That's why

I had a DUI when I was 16.

That was a criminal offense, I don’t consider myself as a criminal, and that was a huge mistake that I’ll never forget.

I mean this young fella is no bill cosbey.

Jesus, can’t he learn from a dumb mistake??

Yeah, guess we should just let every teenager off the hook then, regardless if they have demonstrated changes in behaviours and worked to be a better person.

Guess those 2 weeks since the report came out, he managed to do that.

Momentary lack of judgement by a 17 year old seeking the approval of his friends

Doesn’t change anything. PROVE that you’ve changed and have made amends. THEN you get your second chance. I doubt this kid learned anything. He probably still thinks he didn’t do anything wrong except that he got caught.

I think this all comes down to meeting him in person, along with his family. and if the habs really did their homework, obviously they've also talked to the girl who was involved, and her family as well. perhaps the knowledge they acquired from these interactions brought them to this pick.

The sex was consensual, the taking a picture of it was not and the distribution of the picture wasn't either. Distribution of that kind of material is a criminal offense.
- Karine Hains

I honestly don't think the Habs did the kid any favors by taking him. It probably would have been best to heed the kid's wishes and let him rebuild his life a bit in obscurity.

AS far as criminal, that has been adjudicated in Sweden and the sentence determined.

It was definitely a poopty move but in no way should end the his chances for a career.
