I agree and I'm not sure they will keep the pick, there's going to be such a media poopstorm and people will demand that they cut ties with the guy...didn't that happen to a pick who turned out to be a bully last year or the one before? Something about making a disabled kid lick stuff off a toilet or something?
- Karine Hains

Yeah but it's easier to cut ties with a 4th rounder than a 1st...

I guess that makes it all OK.

Obviously no victims here at all.

Case closed.

The awkwardness of the Hawks pick immediately following with like 7 women at the podium. Jesus.

Can’t help but think the Habs couldn’t have moved back and still made this pick.

I really don’t buy the statement either. You took the kid for his skill. You don’t give a poop about him otherwise because you just threw a colossal poop storm his way by going against his wishes and drafting him to the biggest hockey market in the league with a 1st round pick.

coming from a market like MTL it is a very curious decision. they better have some sort of genius PR strategy in mind...

Seriously. If this was a 6th round pick by like the Panthers or Yotes it’d make a lot more sense.

Yeah, it was the Coyotes, and the guy was Mitchell Miller

You have to be (frank)ing out of touch and have absolutely no idea how the world is today to pick Logan Mailloux at this point and think this is going to fly eventually. They really have no idea what they got themselves into.

I think the Habs need new people without poops for brains at the helm honestly.

There is a vast gulf between shooting the kid and not drafting him, but believe whatever you want.

If she had been 17 as well, it could've been child pornography charges (not sure how the law works in Sweden, but that is how it works in a number of other countries).

There was nothing consensual about getting your picture taken and then sent to a bunch of random dudes with your personal information included.

Absolutely I believe he will have access to the best professionals money can buy and in turn it will only help this kid learn from this criminal act.

Actually the Habs putting the biggest spotlight possible on this kid will probably end up hurting his career. Some team could’ve taken him in the 4th or 5th in a small market and he wouldn’t be waking up to the poopstorm he’ll be dealing with for the foreseeable future now.

(frank) that.

He did not deserve to be drafted.

He should never have been drafted by this team.

IDGAF what other teams might / might not have done.

End of story.

This. It’s just a dumb pick. The kid “apologized” because he had to because he got charged. Don’t pick him. Let him prove he’s changed and is really understanding of what he did wrong…and it was very wrong…and then give a second chance once warranted. Bergevin is an idiot. And anyone defending the pick is an idiot. But just justify it by calling anyone who disagrees with the pick a lefty.

Hains: I'm Not Being Picky but...

A lot of GMs were wheeling and dealing today on the virtual draft floor while the Habs’ faithful were wishing and hoping to hear the Canadiens had made a move, but the picks went by and the move never came, in the end, Marc Bergevin used his pick…in a surprising manner.

I think the main issue here is that the events happened rather recently, and it feels we're almost congratulating him by drafting him. this isn't the way I see it necessarily, as I don't have any personal knowledge about anything and am against cancel culture in general, but still you gotta wonder what the (frank) Timmins and Bergevin were thinking by bringing this sort of situation in MTL...

The kind that hurts your brand. If the other stuff doesn't bother him, Geoff Molson should at least be worried about this kind of move alienating fans.

Money talks.

Great blog as usual, however I strongly disagree with your view of our pick. Maybe like you said it’s because your a women. I tend to like to believe people can change and mature given the situations life presents you. The Kid was 17 when this all went down. I myself am a proud father of two absolutely gorgeous girls who I’d be willing to give my life for in a split second if necessary. With this in mind we must consider the fact that the girl involved also must be responsible for her actions. I’m sure she was just fine with having a future NHLER having her nude pics.By no means is it right or do I support such behaviour however we must consider this. Also as far as sending the pictures to multiple people and posting it online this is wrong, but these are teenagers. and teenagers do stupid things. I look forward to watching Logan Represent Montreal.
