That would be surprising with georgiev and shesterkin but either way I don’t think he was making it past Edmonton either based on what their media has been pushing - RedC21
That’s actually kind of funny. Holland was keen on Seider as well. |

I would have liked Svechkov or a center with the other 1st rounder but i can live with Cossa. I knew he was a possibility with the other pick. I am a bit surprised that Cossa went before Wallstedt. |

I. Got. My. G!!!!!!
I was seriously thinking Raty, full disclosure.
Excellent draft!!! STUD D-man to augment Mo Sides. Outstanding G prospect. 2 areas we were sorely lacking. |

Woof. Not the picks I would have made, to put it mildly.
I think people here know how much I hate the idea of taking goalies in the first round, but while Cossa is a huge question mark there's also a chance he'll be fantastic.
Edvinsson screams 2nd pair defensive defenseman to me. Hope I'm wrong but I don't have a lot of confidence that he has a high ceiling. |

Im very unsure how i feel about the picks currently,
I really wanted Ecklund, he was there and we passed,
I love the idea of taking a Goalie, especially after getting Ned, we went from an area of weakness to a potential area of strength quite literally overnight.
However, now were on record as not only taking the 1st goalie of the draft meaning we could have had any single one we wanted, (time will tell if he ends up better than wallstedt) but, we gave up an additional 2nd and 5th round pick to make this happen
so on one hand, Yzerman must be confident in these guys, which i love that feeling, but im scared we gave up the 48th pick to move up 8 spots for a goalie who wasnt even the highest ranked one.. so this better not blow up in our face |

If our 2nd pair is he and Hronek, that’s not too bad. Yzerman just said he was excited about the goalie pick, but the man never smiles. I will never play cards with him |

If Yzerman is set on improving the team for this season he has to do something about the center position even if it is short term. He needs to add someone to take heat off Larkin and help the 2nd line wingers produce more offense.
He's also going to have to draft some top end centers at some point (unless he trades for one) or this team will continue to struggle with offense. |

Glad we addressed our offensive issues lol. Not what I would have done (Eklund and Wallstedt), but in Stevie we trust. |

I'm going to trust Yzerman's instincts on the Cossa pick. I have no worries... the kid has talent for sure. Nothing wrong with having a stud goalie prospect. The scouts and Stevie must have wanted this kid pretty bad. He did pretty good with getting a goalie for Tampa...
I am still bummed we didn't get a stud center which I still think was their most important spot to fill. This team will not ever be a legit playoff threat if we don't get more talented centers. |

Would rather have seen Svechkov with that 15th but I get the goalie pick considering the condition of our G prospect pool. They landed 2 goalies in the last 2 days, maybe one will pan out in the future. With Petruzzelli jumping ship and saying he didn't want to be here especially.
Lost a couple 2nds, need to pull some kind of C and offense now. |

Quick hits from Edvinsson interview: he did face Seider this year, was very impressed. Has shared the ice with Lucas Raymond. Lidstrom is his idol (obviously). Seems very excited, waiting to hear from the team still. They asked if Kronwall had called him yet, he smiled and said not yet. Seems genuinely excited. |

I am hoping to see some centers tomorrow. I feel a lot better about goaltending after this week now and going forward. A friend of mine was texting, keep hoping that McIsaac can have a healthy season. Still don’t know what we have there. If Berggren or Veleno can jump forward this season, it would be another boost for sure. I want to see Raymond in North America. Lots of stuff to look forward to. Yzerman has been really good to this club by moving so much in and out so quickly |

Picking for need rather than BPA.... I think it will work out but I am a bit surprised. Eklund may turn out to be the best player of this draft. And 3 picks for Cossa....he better damn well work out!! |

Buch just got traded for a second, guys like eichel are available and we’re female doging about not taking a forward... major drop off this year in defenseman and we literally have zero goal tenting prospects... good first round imo.. edvisson won’t be Seider but we need another shutdown guy to play next to hronek who is only 23 I might add. I’m not saying Stevie is perfect but we have so many forwards in the pipeline and it’s quite a reach to say we won’t be picking within the top ten again next year. |

I thought Eklund was BPA at 6, and I think Clarke has a decent chance to end up as the best defender taken today. They went 7 and 8.
Unfair or not, if either of those guys turn into stars (obviously far from a sure thing), the Edvinsson pick is going to look like a huge missed opportunity even if he does round into a decent second pair guy. |

I keep seeing Zach Dean pop up, floating around where our 2nd round pick is. Don't know much about the guy but on paper sounds looks solid. He'll be my darkhouse 2nd rounder. |

Actually i did have him on my list for the Wings 23rd pick after Svechkov along with L'Heureux. I didn't expect the Wings to move up to take a goalie. |
