Like... Pretext to 180? What can he possibly say?
The Habs even put him in a gross spot. |

This is such a massive miscalculation by Bergevin.
He didn't just draft the kid - he drafted him right around where he was expected to go.
He just took on a massive headache for really no reason - He could have just taken a similar prospect.
Will probably just end up renouncing the pick after the backlash. |

If he trades their 1st round pick, there better be a condition that they make it out of the 1st round. |

Montreal proved me wrong.
What an embarrassment. 🤦🏼♂️ |

“If a storied franchise like the Montreal Canadiens can show that much confidence in me, I guess I can show that much confidence in myself.
Once again, it’s heartening to see the NHL put the whistles away when it really matters.
I’m dedicating my career to Shea Weber.” |

I'd love for him to say he'll never sign an entry level deal with Montreal since they didn't respect his wishes of not being drafted. |

This doesn’t have anything to do with rehabilitation. Nobody is crucifying him. He’s the one who said the best thing for his development was to withdraw from the draft. - Canada Cup

I feel like he'll go earlier especially in a draft like this where scouts don't have a lot of information. Look at Stillman. He was projected to go late 2nd or early 3rd in many mock drafts and he was drafted in the 1st round.
Not bashing Stillman, I actually taught him and he was a very smart and mature grade 6. I wanted the leafs to take him. If you're unsure about 2 kids, you take the one whose dad played pro. |

I'm playing devil's advocate here, but people are acting like the Habs drowned a litter of puppies for drafting the dude against his wishes, which don't mean much.
Who are we supposed to feel sorry for here?
Sucks for the victim most really, regardless of mailloux's wishes - TheMussel

From the tweetter.
"Marc Bergevin was part of the 2010 Blackhawks in a director role, showed interest in Slava Voynov, hired Sean Burke, went after Tony DeAngelo, and now just drafted Logan Mailloux. It's a pattern." |

I read a rumor that there were teams willing to draft him round 2.
A handful of teams, leafs, hawks and a few others said they would not under any circumstance draft him. Just a thing I read though. |

Meh, he's young, deserves a second chance.... But hopefully he feels fortunate and not entitled - TheMussel
The fact that he was picked guarantees the latter. He has now been taught that there are no consequences to his actions. Just like Leafs players have learned that there are no consequences for failure except a longer summer off and more time at the cottage. |

GM's like Bergevin are former players. So they once were young and getting away with similar things. Or even worse things. It's much harder for an entitled kid to get away with crap now.
These kids are spoiled from a young age and grow up being told how great and special they are. So it's only natural for them to develop a God complex. It doesn't justify their actions. And not all of these kids are bad. They're mostly good. Unfortunately it's the bad ones which stand out.
The real failure are the former players like Bergevin sweeping everything under the rug and hoping the issues disappear. Look at all those current and former Chicago guys playing dumb 11 years later. "Uh I don't remember that happening."
Basically if you are good at hockey we'll overlook your past mistakes. If you suck then we'll use it to make you disappear. It's talent above all else. Always has been. Always will be. |

Rehabilitate him in jail. - bobbyisno1
The Swedish criminal justice system dealt with him. It is an offence to share photos like that. He was fined.
He said he (frank)ed up and wasn’t ready to be drafted. Bergevin said (frank) you. |
