Per usual

His bday is in December. He will be 29 this season

30. 30 30 30 30 30 30 in the first year of his new contract.

I don’t think I can make that any clearer

- Stayin alive

The problem is you think 30 is old for some reason. It's laughable. That is why everyone laughs at you everyday.

Based on the trade value of what we have seen so far, imagine if we had done the following:

1. Traded for Reinhardt (who was stellar as center on a weak team this year) and give up what we did and a prospect goalie like Sandstrom/Ustimenko (to make it similar to BUF return) So, Reinhardt for 1st,2nd,Hagg, Utimenko >> what they got.

2. Traded Couts to Boston for 2021 and 2022 1sts or to Avs for Newhook +2021st. We would get those prices easily.

3. Done the Voracek and Ghost trades. Kept Myers.

4. Given Dougie 1 m more than what I hear he is asking (given him 9.5 instead of 8.5)

Our first line for future would be Bee-Reinhardt-TK
Our first pairing for the future would be Provy-Dougie.

The oldest player in those 5 names is 28. The Reinhardt extension would cost less than Couts extension. Myers+Dougie cost =< Risto+Ellis cost.

You either give Myers 1 more shot or you hire a vet for 1 year. If neither works, sign a guy next year. And you have either 2 1sts, 1 in a deep draft, or your future 2nd/3rd line center in Newhook, possibly even your first, and another 1st.

Which combination is more aligned with the youth and trajectory of the club for building a contender?

Yep. Show me one player from the last 2 decades that signed a 7-8 year term 8+ mil at 30 years old …. Yep I’m laughed at daily by flyers fans. Laughable

Only if JJ would call him Hamilton when calling the game. I don't think I could listen to "Dougie" for 82+ games/season.

Some rando was saying Gabe Landaskog (too lazy to look up spelling) was in the Philadelphia area today. Doubt it's TRUE, but fun to think about
- Sir_Robot_Farts

Sure. Get Kraken to take JvR by packaging him with Laughton, and there you go....

If philly thinks Ellis /risto/cam adds and jettison a few players makes them cup contenders that laughable. Yes we got better. Possibly a playoff team. Nowhere near a cup contender but can be argued closer than a few days ago which is valid.

IMO there’s zero chance winning cup next year with coots in last year of deal.

And even worse chance of blow cap flexibility by resigning him and risto to term/$

I don't think any of us saw that 19/20 team dominating the entire NHL towards the end of the covid season but they did.
This team that we have, today, is better than the team we had in 19/20. There is no reason why these guys can't contend if they play the way they played in 19/20 again.
With Jake gone the locker room may be stronger and players will play like their jobs here depends on them playing well.
Chuck sent a message to everyone in the locker room and I dig it

Yes this team looks much better who knows. Maybe they can jell and caught some magic. But I don’t think it’s fair to expect it. Therefore moves can and still be made. Obviously can’t do everything in 1 off season

Time will tell. But I think these stats are misleading. One season he only played 44 games. Then was a ppg player in the playoffs. This year the whole team struggled
- Peter Richards

When looking at points per game, how many games he played doesn't skew the results. Now if he had a lingering physical issue, it might.

Regarding Buffalo, I would prefer not to be cynical. This is the right thing for them to do. I commend them for not changing course just because they have gone the same way for a while. I just hope they are more judicious in the future contracts they give out.

- PT21

You should be cynical but not of Buffalo but of yourself. Here is a team that is dumping players that it drafted and developed to start over AGAIN. Eichel is next. This is evidence of why your idea that a team needs to tank, is a bad idea.

I have no problem trading picks for players that can play. I have been consistent in this from the very beginning. I have also stated that you can find good players anywhere in the draft, at 13, or at 75. And I stated I wanted Fletcher to use his 1st round pick to get some good players in here. Well, he did all of these things, he traded his 1st round pick for RR, and then drafted a player in the 2nd that was rated in the 1st round by several rankings. So I am happy with what Fletcher did. If you would rather wait 2,3 or 4 years for Lysell, or Rosen, or whoever you think Fletcher would have picked in that position, that is your choice. I for one am tired of waiting and hoping that 17 and 18 year old kids will develop into the next Sidney Crosby. I would rather win now thank you very much!
- jd250

You didn't address the point. You justify the Flyers giving up a first round pick by downplaying the value of the pick and then claim that they can find good players in the later rounds. You criticize other teams for giving up first round picks in deals for what are better players than the Flyers acquired. It's contradiction after contradiction.

Thank you again for proving you dumb. How’s that working out for karlsson and the sharks? Lmao. Exactly why you don’t EVER sign 30+ player to a long term deal big money.

If you can’t look at that deal and say hey maybe we shouldn’t sign coots who’s the dumb one

You trade him now because once you realize
A) you’d be absolutely nuts to re sign him long term big money at 30 years old

B) you have zero chance to win cup in his last year of current deal

You move him for assets while his value is at its peak.
