will have to see how the market plays out, but I would like Anderson, Raanta, Ullmark, or Bernier. I picked these because they are around 30 years old so they should have a lot left in the tank.

I agree with the view here also based on salary expectations in 3 mill range

Freddy Anderson at a minimum would be my guess. Probably $7M between the two goaltenders. Flyers will spend every bloody cent before the season's started.

Andersen was the only reason the leafs were any good at all before this season. He’s not bad at all, but I don’t see him coming here on a minimum contract.

I meant a goalie of Anderson's caliber at the very least. I think they'll invest a good chunk of change to hedge their bets in net.

I like it. I was shocked that there was no retained salary and that we in fact gained cap room. Seems to be a shoot first player which helps the balance.

If you tell me Andersen takes say 3 mil or less and is ok to backup. Great. He does seem to thrive on more work so maybe it’s not a fit here. I think you have to give hart a chance to rebound. He’s young and has shown to be good when the team isn’t a a defensive dumpster fire in front of him

Yeah. In an idea world you’d keep him and we’d win, but I’ve gotten to a point of saying we haven’t accomplished anything the last almost decade. If we had a solid season and made the semis this year he may have stayed. We couldn’t keep the core group together anymore.
- Hextall271

With the flat cap, I’m pretty sure he would not have survived next summer’s moves anyway. Atkinson helps with the PK and that is a better fit.

We all knew after last season there was no way to stand pat with near the same roster. Fletcher has improved the team. The questions are how much improved and at what cost.
- PLindbergh31

How much improved... hmm lets see what the others in the conference do. Currently based on trajectories if other teams, imo the peak next 2-3 years is a 2nd round exit/maybe an uncompetitive CF exit. There is some danger the bottom will fall out

Cost: well, ha ha. Lets just say the cost is no hope of going higher than that in the next few years thereafter

i hated him before. he will go out of his way for the big heavy hit. he never struck me as dirty in the tom wilson sense, but he isnt a saint. its just fun to hate those guys, especially when theyre on the rival team. its fun. the game needs that.

that being said, it will be fun watching the fan base's visceral polar response to him. he will be simultaneously among the most loved by the people who cheer when he makes a thunderous hit in the corner and hated by the people actually watching the rest of the game who realize that left him out of position yet again. hes a horse but if the plan is to put him with Provy and mush them for 23 minutes a night, theres going to be a night a week they are minus four. i think the best bet would be to try and limit his minutes and responsibilities and let his physical attributes try and shine through, but then again why would you move that kind of draft weight for someone you dont plan on showcasing.

So we got Gudas again, but with a really horrendous +/-? For a 1st rounder?

Interesting.

Can't believe Seattle didn't take more goalies and then redistribute for a price

I really don’t believe he was brought in to be a first pair guy. That’s Ellis with provy. Barring injury, I’d see him playing way less than the 23 mins he had been playing and perhaps even more sheltered. It’s a gamble but the rationale is that maybe under those circumstances he does well as a stay at home defender.

The whole draft pick thing I’ve mentioned before. I believe they’ll re sign him and that first is in a weak draft where they couldn’t scout. Be dry mucus. Crap shoot. I never like pissing away picks but it also could be that the org feels they could afford to part with the pick as we’ve got quite a few prospects already after years of sticking the cupboards. It’s not like they’ve been passing away picks year after year like pitt.

With the lack of moves made by Seattle and not tons of cap space for Fa it’s a clear tank for Wright. And rid players after this year and go next year

Yeah. Their play is bizzare maybe they wanted to go like Vegas and teams wouldn’t play their game.

Poor bill took the day off. With so much happening he probably had to get his thoughts and emotions together just like the rest of us.

Its never the same on days that he doesn't blog and teach us something about our franchise

Yes. Agreed. I’ve been watching his reactions on Twitter however. Balanced as always and I was happy that he wasn’t standing on the edge of the Walt Whitman after the rr trade. Haha. He’s ok with it if he’s re signed and used second pair. People simply shouldn’t forget how god awful bad the buffa slugs have been.

Columbus traded Jones with 1 year remaining on contract for absolute humongous big return.

Absolutely no offense to bill but he is paid by the team. He has to really toe the line and be careful with any criticism. Which is expected. Anyone that fully believes any teams personal isn’t too bright. Take it with a huge grain of salt. Again no offense to bill. Even if he hates a move he can only slightly question it and also add some team spin as to why or how the move is good or can work.

That was my initial thought process as well. Hopefully he can hold up for a couple of more seasons and play with some really nice playmakers and rekindle sole magic here.
I've been q cam Atkinson fan so I really like this trade, all things considered
