I think CF will go higher end than that... Grubauer, Rask, MAF, somebody like that.
I doubt CF views it as Hart's net anymore. - Tomahawk
Hmmm, I was not thinking along those lines but I see your logic...It could be a nasty arbitration for Hart unless he tempers his salary expectations with a bridge deal..those goalies are at least 3 mill.. I think Grubaur was 3.3 mil and MAF is 7 mil plus I think

I definitely believes it’s still Harts net. Kid is what 23? The team around him was atrocious. Wasn’t all on him. Better team play can make a better goalie as well. - Deasr1
I'm just thinking of it from CF's POV. If he makes all these huge moves and Hart poops the bed again, and whatever Elliott-esque fallback they bring in also barely treads water, they could easily miss the POs again.
You think he's gonna risk that? I don't. He's been over-correcting all week. I think we'll see the same in net.

Backup goalie is where you can go a little cheaper and still get good value. Hart will sign a bridge deal of 2 years and get those 2 to prove he can do it. You won’t see a 5 mill goalie come in to complete. |

I am hoping to be underwhelmed with the back up then. I have a lot of faith that it is Hart’s net. |

Or hart goes back to form and how he has performed throughout the years at each level. Which is more likely given his body of work at each level. But yeah. Let’s go with the doom and gloom immediately. |

There are some out there that will be equal to or better than Elliott. He served his purpose. This past season was rough for both. |

You can (frank) right off, if grubauer is leaving Colorado for a reasonable deal I’d want the pens to be absolutely booting tires on that one.
MAF in a flyers jersey would collectively make everyone unhappy.
Seriously though, where do you see the cap working out here? I get what you’re saying how CF is going all in, but I would be shocked if this is the route they went. Anyone with decent money/term makes it hard to still view hart as the answer and I don’t know if they’re ready to jump ship. Hell I don’t know if they even should be. I think it’ll be the Frederick anderson / james Reimer type. |

Better not be expensive. If the Flyers plan for the backup to play around 30+ games, it’s still very much Hart’s net.

You do, but does CF? Historically bad season (.877 SV%), injuries, a near total mental collapse. Can a GM risk banking his NHL future on a kid recovering from all that?
I believe in Hart, I think the right thing to do is to stay patient with him. But patience has gone out the door in the Flyers front office. |

Some people just don’t want to be positive today. The Flyers get their RHD second pair defenseman in Ristolainen, a kid in the second with a first round grade, and for many, a locker room shake up by trading Jake with no assets required. Seriously, you can’t please some . Fletcher has accomplished his obvious goal of re-making this roster. - Sublime55
Part of why I like the Jake trade so much is the shakeup of chemistry. I’ve been talking about moving him out since last summer. The main reason I wanted a hockey trade was to change up the chemistry. We need more shoot first guys but on top of that, Jake has been part of the core that hasn’t really been able to do anything. And I like Jake a lot. He’s done a lot for the org and I wish him the best. |

Hopefully all the remaining patience just pools in front of the net. |

He was just on nhl network and said it is Hart's net, compacted schedule that will dictate a 45-35 split. does not think it will be a 50-30 split. |

Both goalies struggled not just hart. They will get a competent back up and like you said be patient with hart. Everyone knows the goalie takes the longest to develop. What he has done so far was in response to the team last year. |

I get it. But honestly, I am a little sad about it. Once a Flyer, always a Flyer. A lot of good memories watching a good dude over the last decade.

As long as the Cup drought continues to grow, there is no time for a Flyers GM to be patient. GM's under immediate pressure to win a Stanley Cup are going to be proactive with their job security taking precedent over what is best long term for the franchise. |

Freddy Anderson at a minimum would be my guess. Probably $7M between the two goaltenders. Flyers will spend every bloody cent before the season's started. |

It's pretty interesting how you downplay a draft pick when the Flyers give it away and praise a draft pick when the Flyers make one. You claim giving away a first round pick for the Flyers is not a big deal because the player will take 3-4 years to develop before you even know. Then when the Flyers make a pick, what a great pick! Fletcher did it again. When other teams trade first round picks it "their stupid for doing that". - MJL
I have no problem trading picks for players that can play. I have been consistent in this from the very beginning. I have also stated that you can find good players anywhere in the draft, at 13, or at 75. And I stated I wanted Fletcher to use his 1st round pick to get some good players in here. Well, he did all of these things, he traded his 1st round pick for RR, and then drafted a player in the 2nd that was rated in the 1st round by several rankings. So I am happy with what Fletcher did. If you would rather wait 2,3 or 4 years for Lysell, or Rosen, or whoever you think Fletcher would have picked in that position, that is your choice. I for one am tired of waiting and hoping that 17 and 18 year old kids will develop into the next Sidney Crosby. I would rather win now thank you very much! |

will have to see how the market plays out, but I would like Anderson, Raanta, Ullmark, or Bernier. I picked these because they are around 30 years old so they should have a lot left in the tank. |

I think what matters is creating the impression you are going for the cup, even if they know privately that the impression is false.

We all knew after last season there was no way to stand pat with near the same roster. Fletcher has improved the team. The questions are how much improved and at what cost. |

Yeah. In an idea world you’d keep him and we’d win, but I’ve gotten to a point of saying we haven’t accomplished anything the last almost decade. If we had a solid season and made the semis this year he may have stayed. We couldn’t keep the core group together anymore. |
