Can't be! Nobody wants to be a Flyer. Someone must have paid him to wear the Gritty t shirt too

Ah, no ... from the beginning I said I didn't want Jones or Hamilton because of the contracts needed to sign them, which would be in the $9M range. I can show you the posts if you like!
- jd250

I did not say anything about signing the player. I was discussing the assessment of how much the player is worth. Sometime before the season started (January?), you and Djapana were saying there was no way he would get above 7m. I suggested 9.

nope -- group think is it was a great trade and you are an awful person for not seeing it that way

Lol, fair

I liked the Ellis acquisition. Luke warm on the Voracek swap. But Risto, my god.

I never bought into the culture change idea. I think it was just about getting better. I think they're definitely better but they are also older and are now a cap team. So the question becomes how much better. Are they a contender now or on the path to becoming a contender? fi that turns out to be no, then they have put themselves in a very bad spot.
- MJL

i hear what youre saying. i just dont think there ever existed a reality in which the team wasnt going to try to get markedly better in the present, future be damned. under those marching orders, the moves viewed in that context have made the team better.

that being said, if somehow risto gets a 6 year 35 mil contract out of you guys i will piss myself.

I don't think Voracek has shown that he is in decline. He is still one of the better playmakers in the league. If Laine plays well and plays with Voracek. It would not surprise me to see Voracek among the league leaders in assists.
- MJL

well his points per game has been dropping the last 4 years, so you can think thats not the case, but it is

Yes, I agree. I disagree with the path that the team has chosen but I don't fault Fletcher for that. With the mandate he has been given, he has accomplished his task. He has done what he was directed to do.

Exactly why are you lukewarm on the Voracek swap? I'd really like to know your train of thought on that one. I mean, what's not to like?

Point per game

Voracek
18/19 .846
19/20 .846
20/21 .811

Atkinson
18/19 .862
19/20 .590
20/21 .607

Can you see the difference? If we look at Atkinson's past scoring strength, which is goals scored, his decline is even sharper.

Just fine.

Took a Finn wing in the 2nd that some scouts had as a late first. Kids a shooter and fast skater but needs to work on his game a bit.

Goalie in the 3rd. Ranked as 2nd best goalie in Europe.

Atkinson is a slightly older, smaller, and considerably worse player than Voracek, with more term remaining

I still think Philly did OK

Atkinson does have a no movement clause. I still like the deal, hopefully it works out.

Those posts seem to be from eagles fans who only watch hockey when the flyers in the final.

Really think we have to see how this plays out. Might just work out well if deployed correctly.

Bill is going to get roasted on Twitter for stating that the RR trade isn’t the worst in the history of sports.

I have been against signing Jones or Hamilton from the very beginning, because the price tag would be too high. I never thought either player would sign for less than $8M!

I think you are wrong. As an all around player, Atkinson is the better player. If he regains his goal scoring, this will be a good deal. He'll be playing with better players and puck distributors than he was in Columbus.

IMO the Jake trade is decent. Didn’t give up assets but knew if not giving up assets or retaining salary it would come with salary coming back. Cam at 4/5.9 is about as good as it could get. He’s 32 and there is some injury concerns and slow down concerns but at that cap hit and term it’s a pill easily swallowed to rid 8+ cap Jake. Culture change move. It’s a solid b grade.

Cam brings a different skill set which is needed and every team needs. Always been a fan

1. older by 2 whole months. Huge.
2. Smaller. Yes. What good is size when one doesnt use it?
3. Is it it about becoming a better team or having a "better" player? Will take what cam brings over jake all day.

Well said.

There is some logic to this trade, though frankly, 80% of even this trade is just juggling pieces. You don't get a player like Atkinson, who is nowhere near the player he used to be, for 4 years with a modified NTC if you care about the future one bit.
