I would have rather moved those assets for Seth Jones than RR. You have to think that rr is going to get 6-7 to resign. Is Jones worth 2-3M a year more than RR? yes, he is. Jones was on colombus teams that were not world beaters and his metrics and the eye test is nothing comparable to RR.
The JV for CA trade is an ok trade -- I do not think the forward group is as talented with CA in and JV out. I would rather have Cody Glass and Phil Myers than Ryan Ellis on the team - corduroy
Why do people think RR will get upwards of $7M. All I hear from you all is how bad a defenseman he is, and yet he is somehow going to sign after 1 season in Philly for mega-money?? RR will most likely resign with Philly at a very reasonable cap hit.
Look, you all doubted that Fletcher could get rid of Jake, and Ghost, and revamp the team this off season and look what he is doing! Its time to show him the respect he deserves! |

Chuck Fletcher jut did it again! Not only did he draft a player (Tuomaala) who both Button and McKenzie had in their top 30, but then they just got rid of Jake straight up for a player who scored 41 goals just two years ago, and CF gained over $2M in cap space to boot!!
CF is hitting a HOME RUN this offseason. What a makeover he is doing. Now he has plenty of space to fill out the remaining roster spots. I can't wait for next season to get started!!
Give it up for Chuck Fletcher!! - jd250
imagine if dumps JVR also.....though i am in no hurry for that, JVR is still valuable at his role, just a touch pricey

He is making 5.4 now and is 26. Do you think he is going to sign a 5x5 or a 5x5.5 deal? I guess he will be so thankful for getting out of buffalo that he will sign a hometown discount deal just like Couturier will and Giroux will, right? |

It's not going above 6, or the Flyers have no choice, but to trade him at the TDL to recoup.
I know most people always assume "This guy makes X amount so they have to automatically get a huge raise"...that doesn't always happen. You have to ask your self if another team would offer Risto 7m to be their 1D. The market will dictate the contract. |

3 very valuable picks for 1 3/4 dman on last year contract. That’s a little more accurate - Stayin alive
Picks that fans completely over rate and have zero bearing on the current roster.
Great he is on the last year. Then they can see if all the prior years are as bad so many say now that he is away fro Buffalo. Then you can resign or walk away.

CF drafts speed and skill, maybe he is reading HB board and trying to make us happy |
|
|

Most would. Lets dig in. Fletcher traded 2 crappy defenseman with no trade value what-so-ever (Fletcher confirmed he forced Buffalo to take Hagg in order for the deal to happen cap wise), 1 2nd tier forward prospect that will take 3-4 years to develop before you even know what you have, 2022 and 2023 second round picks (which he has time to recoup in the future) and a 7th round pick which he had two of already. And in return Fletcher gained cap space and a legitimate top 4 defenseman that add toughness and skill.
Yup, I think Fletcher did an outstanding job! - jd250
I can see your logic but have to correct a couple things
1) the 1st round pick likely not 3-4 timeline. Farabee picked at 14 played after 1 year. Timeline more likely 2 maybe 3 years. And that’s probably a nice player tho probably not a star.
2) what is this dream of recoup the 2nd round picks? It’s not like cf can just go pluck them from the giving tree ? So if you trade assets to recoup those picks it’s gonna cost something
Not be a troll just pointing out it was a very heavy deal with consequences. |

5.4 to 6 isn’t a huge raise. That’s probably the minimum it would take. |

depends how he plays, if his stats don't improve drastically he wont get a raise, if he does, at least he is young enough where the Flyers can give him some term for a lower cap hit. |

If he resigns before the season, I do not think he will, it will be for what he is making now imo.
Only the star players will get the big bucks as we have seen. He isnt a star player.

OMG now I'm seeing people complain that because they traded for Atkinson that the team is too small and not physical enough....
I swear Flyer fans are worse than politics, they have no clue what they want by wanting everything, but not too much. |

Doesnt need to be more talented. Needs to be better which I think they are with Atkinson and less Jake.

I wouldn't lump him with Fata, Tuemaala has a better floor and can be versatile using that speed. Fata was a speedster and nothing else. - Glak18
Fata was a 1st round 6th overall pick. He had a really high ceiling. Rico was highly regarded for his speed and shot. Had the speed but couldn't keep up with himself. Sounds pretty darn close to Tuomaala beside the draft position and physicality.
He's a Flyer now, I support him and I hope he succeeds. |

HT 5-10 WT 176 SHOOTS R
INTERNATIONAL SCOUTING SERVICES No. 17
Fans in Sudbury were hoping to see Tuomaala in the OHL this season, but that didn’t happen.
Instead he stayed home in the junior ranks and made his Liiga debut with Karpat, a club that has developed a ton of talent in recent years, including a certain Edmonton Oilers high draft pick. “He has elite tools, his skating is elite, and his shooting is elite,” said one scout. “His game instincts and hockey IQ are not so good. Someone will draft him, and he’ll go fairly high, but I’m cautious. Is he a smaller Jesse Puljujarvi? Tuomaala was outstanding in junior and played up in the Liiga, but when you move up the ladder, things get exposed.”
Players who are able to adapt to new situations, the scout continued, tend to thrive. Those who don’t may take longer to develop, and Tuomaala may fit into that category. But the right winger got off to a great start
at the world under-18s, and there appears to be something there. “He’s an explosive skater and highly skilled,” said another scout. “Sometimes you wonder about the work ethic, but towards the end of the year he was better there. He has the speed for his size.”
BEST CASE | Jesse Puljujarvi |
