I feel the CF painted himself into a corner and then had to over haul the d core even if it was costly.

Chuck should have at least demanded the second round pick back if the flyers don’t or can’t sign Risto.

It would be one thing if Risto had 2-3 years left on his contract to give the draft picks away.
Essentially CF traded Ghost, Haag, the 13th overall, and two second round picks for a second pair suspect dman with one year left on his contract.
If CF has the mentality that this it what it takes to get better then he is not good at his job.
I would argue the picks traded to buffalo and available cap space added with the Ghost trade could have been better utilized.
I’m not going to hate on Risto but I’m on record saying I wouldn’t have done this deal.

We don't need to be Buffalo, but I never agreed with Hextalls pseudo-rebuild while trying to be competitive.

Just bite the bullet. Admit your mistake and trade Ellis, (hopefully sign & trade Coutourier). Move Jake now, then BOOM.

Ideally a bad team for a year or 2 in time for the LOADED 2023 draft.

If your playing risto on top pair and minutes you will be very upset. He’s not a 22-25 minute dman. That’s when he gets exposed. He’s best at that 17-20 minute 2nd pair. If he doesn’t pair well with sanheim and has to play with provy then you have to move York or sanheim up with Ellis and move provy down to 2nd pair. Which might actually work out better.

Oh and I may add that CF also set a bad precedent for himself that he can be pushed into bad deals. One has to think that the other GMs are going to push and hold out for picks.
In CFs defense Chicago played into trade insanity. The thing is i would takes Seth Jones all day before Risto.

It does seem that way, doesn't it? I really didn't think, or maybe I was just hoping, that prices would come down. What I really don't understand is why Adam Larsson took that contract with Seattle. I am sure the Flyers and many other teams would have paid him more to play for them. This one was a head scratcher.
