Reminiscent of Arthur Kaliyev a couple drafts ago. He'll probably go early second round. We should move up and grab him. Just tell CF not to blow a first round pick on the early second round pick lol
- dubc55

We do have an extra 5th round pick from the Raffl trade. If this draft is as weak as some are claiming, would it make sense to use it to move up a few spots and grab one of those late first-early second grade prospects?

Hey Aatu Raty, is still available also. He’s slipped this far, why not a few more slots?
- Sublime55

Maybe 3rd round. Too many good RHD and other forwards available to take a guy with character issues with our first pick of the draft.

The guy had a first round grade…he might be worth the risk if he falls to middle of the second.

Well at least you have a chance drafting players.

We’ve seen this win now mentality for last 46 years. How’s it worked out?

- Stayin alive

I’m not sure what suggesting moving up 20 or so spots to draft Aatu Raty has to do with a win now mentality but ok.

Jfc dude. Have a cream soda and calm the f down.

if what chuck said is true that there was 7 other offers of a 1st for risto then i guess he is? You are worth what the market dictates.
I think our D is greatly improved, cant wait to see them in action

The culture change is on the way. I dont think this can be over stated. Lost our 3 worst players, one who was -30 and seemed to sulk his way through the year, and picked up 2 players that stick up for team mates. If they can get rid of jake will only help further

Except CF didn't pay a huge price! Now we saw who was picked at 13 last night, are you sad you lost out of a marginal forward prospect that may make the NHL in 4 years? Aren't we all tired of this by now, waiting and waiting and waiting for tier 2 players to maybe make a difference? This draft reminds me a lot of the 2012 draft, no generational difference makers (except Vasilevskiy of course), maybe a few solid players in it, and its clear not just CF, but many GMs were willing to trade their first round pick last night and did. The Flyers gave up a 2nd round pick 2 years from now, and a bottom pairing defenseman. Oh boy, are they in trouble now!!!

Meanwhile its hard to feel bad for Buffalo fans. They were trashing CF and the Flyers for this trade, thinking they got rid of the worst defenseman in the history of the league and someone was stupid enough to pay them a 1st round pick! Except now they will once again be spending their time watching college players while we can finally watch meaningful playoff games. Cuckoo to you ... Sabres fans!

Yes! And I think it will happen very soon. Fletcher sees what, at least, some of us saw last year; a soft team that couldn't play defense. I stated many times there would be real opportunity to remake this team with the addition of 5-6 players and that those players would be available. We are now seeing that those players are available, and the urgency of our GM to pounce on it!

Well the Bruins took what many considered to be a top 10 talent with character issues by picking Lysell at 21. I think there will be a good player there when the Flyers pick, and who knows they may trade up a few spots to get him if their scouts really like a player today.

cue the ....but we lost youth group lol
even though they might never pan out, and seems like weve been gathering youth for 5 years now, have a few good players to show for it, but some might never pan out, its a risk trying to stick with draft picks. ginning, leberge, rubstov, patrick are prime examples, sometimes having draft picks doesnt mean anything.

Anyone see his presser? When asked he said he believes he’s not going to be active trading. Sign the rfa s, goalies, maybe d depth and forward p k depth.
- Peter Richards

Not exactly true, CF said there would be no more hockey trades this week, which given it was Friday and they are focusing on the draft this weekend makes sense. I expect Jake to be traded next week to open more space to sign a few FAs.

Some interesting names left, some of them:

Pinelli (C)
Robertsson (RW)
Chayka (LHD)
Chibrikov (RW)
Stankoven (C/W)
Raty (C)

Morrow (RHD)

The bolded ones would be very interesting to take a FLYER on (pun intended).

Exactly, draft picks mean nothing unless they are playing on your big club and helping you win games. Look its important for CF to continue to hit on draft picks and develop them quickly, because especially in a flat cap world you need them to fill out your roster and compete. But this was not a strong draft, and we have enough marginal prospects in our system. And another thing that CF is not getting any credit for, he didn't give up a single prospect in these trades so far, not one! I think he is doing an outstanding job so far!

A lot of people are expecting this big trade to lose a contract, I personally don't see it happening and have no expectation for it. I think the "biggest changes" have been made already with re-signings and a goaltender being left to be done.

I still think they badly need a shoot first player in the top six but maybe they’re banking on Farabee filling that void.

D I’m not worried about which in turn should be a big boost to the goaltending.

- hereticpride

This team is such a tweener mess.

They are now too invested to win now, so we might as well go balls to the wall.

Get Tarasenko for Voracek, hope Frost is ok, and Foerster can be our much needed sniper.

THAT is all we can do.

I really just hate this franchise right now.
