To 8 years at 9.5? no thanks. he isn't worth that
- Richieattack18

Its a stupid contract. Can you imagine what Hamilton is asking for tonight? Its got to me $10M+ per, and he is not worth that either!

Remember when you said he will get around 7 and I said he will get 9?

Blue chip guys will always get paid.

- PT21

Ah, no ... from the beginning I said I didn't want Jones or Hamilton because of the contracts needed to sign them, which would be in the $9M range. I can show you the posts if you like!

The prob is not many teams can do that salary, and Carolina arent a max cap team, they are a budget team So go for the money but maybe not your top 5 choice or take a discount

Contract on OEL and Jones seemed to have few places in mind, and yeah, his contract sucks too.

Why?

1) OEL isnt really any better
2) OEL is a lefty and Risto is a righty
3) OEL is 30, Risto is 26
4) You should be estatic about Ristolainen. He has double the hits that OEL has. Thats what you consider leadership isnt it?

The Flyers are done on defense and Fletcher did a GREAT job filling the 2 gaping holes that were there. I don't know what the rest of you are watching, but anyone that thinks the Flyers gave up too much for Risto is delusional. This is not a deep draft with generational talent, so outside of the top 5 or 6 picks, the player selected at 13 is going to be at best a Tier 2 prospect. A second round pick is just that, a second round pick. And Hagg is a marginal NHL defenseman, a bottom pairing guy at best. The Flyers in return got a legitimate top 4 defenseman that can hit, cover, skate, and score points, and most likely will sign him to his next deal. This was a good trade by Fletcher, no ands, ifs, or buts about it!

Meanwhile Chicago just gave up the farm for Seth Jones, and then signed him to a ridiculous 8 year $76M contract. Seth Jones is not a great defenseman, not offensively nor defensively. He is not worth this type of contract, and on top of it all he is fraud for stating that he wanted to test out free agency when all he really wanted to do apparently is find a sucker organization that would pay him over the top money and allow him to play with his brother. I would have much preferred with Fletcher did so far than to trade and sign this guy.

GOOD JOB CF!

Could’ve filled risto spot in Fa much cheaper and without giving up major assets 🤷‍♂️

Really? So the Flyers are the only team looking to sign a FA defenseman? Who did you have in mind that would have been better than Risto given the contract the Oleskiak just signed with Seattle? Any FA defenseman is going to get $5M+ per. Risto gets slightly more, and I think is better than the FA defenseman left there to sign in this price range.

You want CF to trade up into the 1st round to get him? Is he really better than who the Flyers will get picking at 46?

Top end skill that’s turned into a bit of a project. If they get him straightened out people will forget about giving up a 1st for Risto

I'd be good with that. There's a potential steal there in Raty. Even if we have to toss in a third round pick.

just disappointed that we didn't make this larger and get Reinhardt as well somehow
- Bayareaflyer

When I started to see parts of what the Flyers were giving up, I thought they were getting both.

I want to be positive all these hours later. And I have no choice, but to root for Risto now, but after hours of being razzed by my friends that root for other teams, I’m pretty passed off still.

Agreed. I'm not pleased at all with the trade. Definitely an overpayment, I don't care what anyone says. No retained salary either. Risto isn't that terrible of a player and fills a hole that is left by Myers. We just paid way too much for him.

I don't understand some moves. Why did Carolina trade Jake Bean for a 2nd?
- MJL
