I mean I would rather you did too. Risto isn’t THAT bad by a long shot. Flyers defense overall is better than last year. I’m a big fan of Ellis and thought you largely stole him. Risto, the amount moved for him is obscene, especially when you know the 5 by 5 contract is coming. It really just makes me wonder how the Flyers view themselves organizationally relative to their timeline. At least I have a player to hate on this team again.

5 by 5? He makes 5.5 now. He’s taking nothing less than 6-6.5. Lmao

Vancouver and Philly acting like they just came within a goal of the Stanley Cup or something. Desperate.

So if this math is correct…if we sign hart and sanheim say at 8 million… that leaves roughly 1.21 million in cap space for 2 depth forwards and a back up

Thank god the rest of the league doesn’t know the cap problem we have right now 😅

More shoes to drop. We still have a little draft capital to give away. 🤷‍♂️

After seeing how much Chicago gave up for Jones, both in assets and salary, I’m not feeling as bad about the Ristolainen trade. That was a steep price Chicago paid.

Ristolainen is gonna have to improve his overall numbers to get an increase in the that range from his last contract. This next year is crucial for him.

it was but at least they got a 1st rounder back, had the flyers gotten buffalo's 2nd round pick back, that trade doesn't look so bad

I don’t hate Vancouver’s trade. I like garland. I’m not totally ready to put the fork in OEL, although a lot of shine has come off for sure. They got to push a lot of junk salary back the other way at the same time too

Basically a prove it year. He isn’t getting 6.5 unless he earns it.

I can understand to a point, but they gave up two first and Boqvist is a top-10 pick just a couple of seasons. I still would’ve preferred if that 1st was a second instead for our guys, so I’m not completely disagreeing with you.

That junk was all expiring next summer tho... they really needed that cap space to get all their core pieces re-signed. If they can move Nate Schmidt, it won't be so bad. I think OEL can bounce back too, but it's a doozy of a contract.

Chicago overpaid in trade and contract.

Flyers overpaid for Risto but let’s be real. The fans are gonna love him. He will protect Cahhtahhh Haaht and that’s a good thing. We got more physical and are harder to play against.

I guess this what we can expect from ESPN’s new contract with the NHL: second fiddle status. I miss the 90s ESPN coverage of the league with Gary Thorne and Bill Clement. The network had real respect for the sport and it showed.

Did Schmidt totally drop off a cliff? I liked him in Washington/vegas. I know it’s not a value deal, but did he blossom into an albatross?

Leave it to the Flyers to trade for such a polarizing player…if Bill thought Ghost was that way, Risto is going to really divide some fans. But the Question I have remaining is what’s next ? Are they done? Is there more to come ? Seth Jones just went to Chicago….so there’s that.
- landros 2

The Flyers are done on defense and Fletcher did a GREAT job filling the 2 gaping holes that were there. I don't know what the rest of you are watching, but anyone that thinks the Flyers gave up too much for Risto is delusional. This is not a deep draft with generational talent, so outside of the top 5 or 6 picks, the player selected at 13 is going to be at best a Tier 2 prospect. A second round pick is just that, a second round pick. And Hagg is a marginal NHL defenseman, a bottom pairing guy at best. The Flyers in return got a legitimate top 4 defenseman that can hit, cover, skate, and score points, and most likely will sign him to his next deal. This was a good trade by Fletcher, no ands, ifs, or buts about it!

Meanwhile Chicago just gave up the farm for Seth Jones, and then signed him to a ridiculous 8 year $76M contract. Seth Jones is not a great defenseman, not offensively nor defensively. He is not worth this type of contract, and on top of it all he is fraud for stating that he wanted to test out free agency when all he really wanted to do apparently is find a sucker organization that would pay him over the top money and allow him to play with his brother. I would have much preferred with Fletcher did so far than to trade and sign this guy.

GOOD JOB CF!

I really don't understand you. WHAT the F*** did you want the Flyers to do? What exactly? They were the worst defensive team in the league last year. They were also one of the softest teams in the league. We finally have a GM that is willing to do something about it, and you are somehow complaining??? What would you prefer, roll out the same, comical players back there again and hope that some how they play better? That is insanity! Myers, Ghost and Haag Suck with a capital 'S". Patrick SuckS with 2 capital 'S's. This team is better without them even if Fletcher got nothing back, but instead he lands two RHS legitimate top 4 Dmen. How can anyone be complaining today?? What, we would rather have the 13th pick?? Delusion thinking!
