Whats the over under that 2022 starts with Myers-Braun as our tandem?

- PT21

Zero. I don't see the Flyers reacquiring Myers.

Exactly. Adding a scoring winger was never part of the offseason plan IMO. It was always defense. This likely won’t happen…but with the new rule that allows prospects who played 20 AHL games to play in AHL again, I wonder if Foerester sticks with Phantoms and if he’s a potential call-up candidate eventually. Kid has a rocket of a shot.

I haven't heard about this rule. When was this made?

Risto played on a terrible Sabres team...was it him that made them bad or was it the other way around? I like his size and aggressive nature. I alway like a solid veteran D combined with a talented youngster on the other side. Its obvious that the GM and HC are looking at this coming season as a make it or break it year for themselves. Ghost and Haag didn't move the needle. When you shake it all out they severely overpaid, but they are better for the short term. Who knows what this years crop of draftees will end up being. As with all trades we need wait and, makes tonights draft less exciting.

This question has been asked the last 4-5 years frankly, and it always gets answered the same way. Risto made a horrid team worse.

Here is the best article I found. Stats can be unreliable, but when the stats are overwhelmingly in one direction, over a large enough sample, chances are the stats aren't wrong, its you who is the idiot if you go against it.

The article is also nice in that it breaks down a couple of plays frame by frame.

Vancouver just paid a similar price

To VAN: OEL & Garland 12% retained

To ARI: Beagle, Eriksson, Rousel, 2021 1st, 2022 2nd and a 7th(This year I assume, not really specified)

I bet you a million dollars Myers won’t be on any Flyers pairings in 2022

Just the other day. From Dreger:

“ CHL sources say final details are being worked out with the NHL that will allow junior eligible players who played 20 or more AHL games last season to return to the AHL next season, rather than back to their major junior club. Bit more complicated, but thats the gist of it.”

Both Wisdom and Foerster played 20 games

Flyers suck, all our defensemen suck!

Sabres suck, but give Risto a chance!

Indeed there is. It's a negative correlation. In Buffalo's favor.

For every single year except 1 of the 8 he has spent with Buffalo, His relative Corsi and relative Fenwicks are negative, often by large amounts. Last year, he was -6 in relative Fenwick. That's quite a feat.

Meaning the team has actually significantly worsened when he steps on the ice.

But hey. Fancy stats and all that.

EDIT: almost -7 when playing 5-on-5.

I guess I just watch hockey for fun and rather see what happens than stress myself out about the endless statistics that can be found. Is it a great trade? No. Am I going to lose sleep over it? No.

Sign morin and I think our d is set. But we don’t have any cap room to change the forwards. Gunna be deck chairs on the titanic.

Not a good article. It is a fallacy that if you have a large enough sample size, chances are the stats aren't wrong. It's a team game and the data is team data. That is not removed over a large sample. It's still there. The author also incorrectly states that if Risto was a good player, the stats would get better when he is on the ice. Also not a true statement. Here is the gospel of hockey analytics. Analytics can make a good player on a bad team look bad and they can make a bad player on a good team look good. The fact that he has played on a bad team his entire career, has to be considered a factor in his stats. Can't be ignored.
As far as the two screen shots. How many minutes did Ristolainen play? You could do the same thing for every defenseman in the league. You can find a few stills where a defenseman didn't defend well.

If that's the case, I would bet both would be on the Phantoms this season.

Don’t really understand why the Rags are looking at Eichel or Tarasenko lol.

How many more playoff series did the Flyers win than Arizona in the last decade? Philly is Arizona without Cactus.

You think the Flyers will be trading someone? It's a pretty loaded forward group.

If they feel they need a scoring boost and Foerster continues to impress I can see something happening. They clearly want to win now so assuming he continues to shine I think they’ll find room for him somewhere.

Definitely lots of competition for those wing minutes tho.

I think we need to calm down a touch on Ristolainen.

He was on a very bad team for his whole career while being asked to play top minutes each and every night against the opposition's best. Now he can play a 2nd pair role on a better team which should help him.

I understand the argument for giving up what they did to get him, but he's nowhere near as bad as some make him out to be.

I'll take a top 4 of Provorov, Ellis, Sanheim and Ristolainen over what they've been trotting out there last season.
